If Brees opts for NO, that would leave Culpepper as our last FA option. I here he is due a huge roster bonus this week. Do we gamble and see if Minny waives him to avoid the roster bonus or do we suck it up and trade a conditional pick? We need our draft picks, what should we do?

he's not our last FA option. Josh McCown is still out there.

I would rather have Fiedler, Feeley or Gus as our QB than McCown. The kid is horrible. He has worse decision making skills than Feeley and he got bet out by Warner who is clearly on the decline. Our QB options are clearly Brees, Culpepper or draft.

I just wish we'd do something and do it fast. If Brees goes to New Orleans and the Raiders get Culpepper who are we stuck with then? I'm sorry but Josh Mccown isn't the answer.

i make the culpepper trade the second brees walks out the door. The only argument against him is he might be 2 or 3 weeks late in the season, while others say hell be ready for training camp. but for a second round pick, which would be spent on someone like a brodie croyle or omar jacobs, who wouldnt play next year anyway, why not get a 3time probowler who is proven and knows our offense already?

i believe the second round pic is for next year. but i maybe wrong. but i could swear i heard that

what happened to ramsey? Im not saying hes the answer just wondering. I really hope we can land either brees or pepper but if neither are available I wont be too worried with hanging on to gus. Now im not saying I would perfer him but just think about it. Hes more comfortable with our system now with a year under his belt he finally statred to click with chambers and he will hopefully be healthier. He did have a f**** up hand for a couple of weeks and he did suffer a pretty good concusion from the bills in that great comeback game(thank god he did or we wouldnt have won it). Now I know hes not a pro bowler and we will loose games we should have won because of him, I am just saying that we have a lot of weapons on our o and d to get us past the patsys and win the AFC East. I just think that if we dont land the 2 big name guys all will not be lost. We will be strong in 06 with or without a great QB.

As to your original question I think we should take the chance he will be cut. Then we can negotiate whatever contract with him we want instead of taking on his old one then renegotiating some time down the road.
