Who woluld you like as Culpeppers backup QB

I personally think: Maddox as he is the most realistic to sign for us

Maddox was just awful last year. I mean really bad, he cost the Steelers a lot of games. I don't expect Lemon to be ready to be a #2 but I can wish.

Not sure why we wouldn't give Lemon a look. We gave up a player and a 6 for the guy. Is he so bad that he can't compete for a backup role?

What I want to see:

Starter: Culpepper

2nd and 3rd string to be an open competition in training camp between Maddox, Lemon and a rookie drafted in round 4.

I'm having dejavu about this question......but Cleo Lemon,Brock Berlin, or just wait for the draft, Omar Jacobs or Brodie Croyle.

cleo lemon will be sufficient in dauntes absence. more than sufficient, i believe

1. Joey Harrington
2. Kerry Collins
3. Tommy Maddox
4. Cleo Lemon

Whomever it is, I do expect him to play several games early in the season.

I think it is wishful thinking to expect Daunte to be ready to play winning football by September.

IMHO he still has a long way to go in his recovery (six to eight months).

Nubs, are you ever wrong? I agree 100% with that. I would like to see Omar Jacobs or Charlie Whitehurst and if we don't get one in the 4th possibly Pinnegar in the 7th? Is Maddox the only vet left in FA? I would like to see someone a little better then that if available.

man i so agree with you! you are so right and if we cant why didnt we just keep stupid aj feeley. in reality we gave up a lot for him if you count what we gave up for aj feely. so i strongly agree we need to find out what this guy can and cant do. and if he cant be a backup then why did we pay so much for him. i understand if they think maybe 2 more years he will be a good qb but there is no headlines of that. so the man is going into his 4th year and is 26 and turning 27 so i think if he isnt ready now than will he ever be ready? i say give him a chance and see what he can do!:tantrum:

Senaca Wallace is a restricted free agent, all it would take is a 7th round pick I believe and we could get him, I think he has a lot of potential and his mobility would take a little pressure off of the O-Line. Just a though.

Amen. People don't realize that Lemon is not that young. I've never seen the guy play, but the coaches must have something they like about him because he was far from free.

The fact that we haven't gone after anyone really that aggressively, leads me to believe that Nick has alot of faith in Cleo as a possible backup. But, there's still time to get some of the other names being mentioned.

Culpepper Backup

Backup for Culpepper can't be just anyone. Experience may be important, but Lineham's system can't be learned overnight. Saban's interest in a possible draft QB would mean that Culpepper will be ready to start the season. The drafted QB should then compete with Lemon for the #2 spot.
