I agree with you. LA also has less in the way of distractions than Miami, they are less easily accessed, and are of a different type as well. I have lived around there. It is tough to explain. LA is big city nasty, don't get fooled by the Beverly Hills thing. Miami is a year around party. It is a real issue to try and manage around. The Heat have done it - Riley. The Panthers have done it. The Hurricanes have now done it, which proves it is doable in football, which is different. Hurricanes started inside out too, by being really tough in the trenches. And the coach is a hardass and a disciplinarian. It will take a special coach - lets see what Hafley can do. Sullivan as well. It is doable. They need to have the force of personality, and they need to bring in the right kind of players - more Jordyn Brooks types.McVay is much more of a hard ass imo than McD could ever dream of being, and I only think an authoritarian with people skills can get a maximum effort out of the guys that live in Miami.
