Cut Yeremiah Bell and sign Dashon Goldson

no thanks. It's a bit of a lateral move, and Goldson is not that great. May as well stick with who we've got this year, and if Clemons and Jones don't turn out, get a good FA next year, or draft a safety high.

I'd keep Yeremiah for this season. He played with injuries last year and gutted it out. He deserves this season with the heart he plays with and his sacrifices for this organization.

Remember that good safeties can play what seems like forever. Dawkins, Sharper, etc etc all well into their mid to late 30's

If you want to cut a safety to save some money, then cut Culver - he stinks. And if you want to save even more money then cut Benny Sapp. He sucks too.

But not Yeremiah.

from profootballfocus.com, Yeremiah Bell was the 8th best safety in the league, that includes both free safeties and strong safeties. Goldson was #57. In 2009, Bell was #27, and Goldson was #83.

Bell is fine but next season Reshard Jones will take over.

can Goldson play along the line of scrimmage and russ the pasher ?

Am i the only one looking forward to a future of Clemons and Jones @ safety ?

Whitner and Huff have been signed and this is a really bad idea. Bell went to the Pro Bowl for a reason.

He went ot the pro-bowl as an injury replacement to an alternate of an alternate. He's a good player and a nice story, but the pro-bowl argument doesn't hold much weight.

I don't think you guys should replace Bell; the FA class of safeties is very weak and guys like Whitner or Goldson don't seem like upgrades over Bell or Jones.

however.... as someone said about goldson...... if Nolan wants a player you get him that player.

This is true but do you remember who got more votes than him ??? He was snubbed in the first place ! Certainly pro-bowl worthy that year. Your playing it off like he didn't deserve it.

Probably been mentioned but they play different positions. Mike Nolan has always steered toward veterans and especially smart players at safety in his defense at FS. He likes former Saban guys. Yeremiah Bell played under Saban, though he never got the kind of favor from Saban that he deserved. Dashon Goldson would be about lack of faith in Chris Clemons.

Replace Bell? The guy only leads the team in tackles year in and year out....... I look forward to seeing him plaster guys each and every game. His passion and effort are something that need to stay right where they are!
