We will need to be dominant helmet on helmet for the OL, WR's and RB's because Cutler won't be the one to get you out of a Jam at that point if things breakdown. He wants to play in preseason.
Cutler said he did feel things slow down a bit on Sunday. He felt more comfortable.
Gase said Cutler was calmer on Sunday, which will be key when the season starts.
It seems likely Cutler would see action on Thursday, though he said he’ll leave that up to Gase.
“Just like any other experience, the longer you do it, the easier it is,” Cutler said. “It feels like I’ve been here for two weeks and I don’t think I’ve been here a week yet. I don’t know if it’s going fast or slow but it’s going.”
Gase said Cutler knows the offense already, it’s more about “processing speed.”
“I mean he’s a quick study,” Gase said. “It’s just really knowing what it is and seeing it in your head on paper and then all of the sudden you’ve got four guys rushing at you or they bring some kind of exotic blitz and the processing speed of all that. And then still trying to figure out the receivers’ body language or run courses and play-action fakes. There’s a lot of little things that go on just besides saying, ‘Hey I’m going to execute this like it’s on paper.'”
Cutler concedes he was overwhelmed the first few days in South Florida.
