heres what worries me about moore. hes a great backup to have to fill in for a few games. maybe the best in the league. but the more he plays the more he gets exposed. so even if he plays well the next couple games, im not sold on it continuing the rest of the season.

cutler was starting to get it. he was signed in august, hardly played in the preseason, all the travel and hurricane issues to start the season, its no surprise he struggled so much the first month.

i wish with qbs you could just ride the hot hand, like when a hockey team has 2 goalies. but in football its like if you pick 1 guy then hes your guy and you cant switch back and forth.

This is the NFL and the backup QB is always the most popular and likeable guy on a team. But in my opinion, Cutler is the better player.

I totally get why fans are down on Cutler as our starter. Moore just looked so much cleaner in a half than Cutler's looked all year.

But it's hard for me to ignore their career body of work where Cutler for all his faults, one of them was never inability to put up numbers. That leads me to believe all the reasons you identified have played a big role in his poor start this year, and that there was definitely room for major improvement.

With that being said, it's entirely possible Jay is just completely washed up. I think we almost have to ride Moore until the breaks fall off at this point.

Gotta wait and see what Moore does with this opportunity, evaluate, and move on from there. Cannot possibly make a decision at this time, but unfortunately, I think Gase has already done so. If Moore starts the next three games, plays well, and the team wins two or three of them.....how can you justify going back to Cutler?

Cutler played well in the second half in LA. He played well in the second half in Atlanta. He was playing well before he got hurt against the Jets, although he did make a potential game changing/season changing mistake. He has not put forth a single complete performance. What if Moore does that 2/3 or even 3/3? Easy for us to debate but again, I don't think Gase cares.

This isn't Ryan Tannehill who is undoubtedly the starting QB.... It's Jay Cutler. This should have been an open competition from the get go, but that's not what Cutler was promised.

Cutler has made it a easy decision IMHO.

Can't keep playing a QB who's goal is to survive. He has no interest in staying in the pocket and letting a play develop. He wants to avoid contact at all costs. He looks done to me. He doesn't seem to have the same zip on the ball he had in the past either. He used to be able to get away with all the back foot garbage in the past, but now it's all floaters and worm burners.

The prospect of Moore starting all year doesn't get me all warm and fuzzy, but seeing the alternative, I'll live with it and hope for the best.

At the end of the day, I don't care who they put under center, I will support them.

Having said that, I think Moore does a better job of playing to the teams' strength of going down field. Cutler has shown a hesitation to throw more that 8 yds down field, and when he does, he's off.

I think Cutler, at his best, is the better player of the two. Problem is, he hasn't been at his best. Call it rust, his age, lack of chemistry, whatever it is, he hasn't been good this year. And it doesn't help that he's playing behind an OL that struggles with pass protection and sucks at run blocking.

Right now, I think Moore is the better option for us. But if he struggles a bit, hopefully Cutler can get healthy so we can have at least that option too.

I couldn't have summarized my thoughts on this any better. Great post.

it isn't tough. By the time Cutler heals, one would have played better or is playing better. You play that person

All I need is to go back and watch the throws that Cutler made and that Moore made. Watch them side by side, back to back, however, one is clear cut the better QB this season. Does that make them the savior? No, but definitely the better player right now.
