I was just thinking about our line and the play of anderson and if he is that bad and he cant improve maybe we can move macintosh to guard? he is our best back up lineman. has he ever played guard? or would you rather stick with anderson.

Has RG been that bad???....

In my opinion, the entire OL was uneasy to start the game against the Bucs. Not just Anderson. Once they all settled in, they played much better....

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but when I look at that 9 minute TD drive, I come away with a big smile knowing our OL was capable of maintaining that kind of stability. That's a great start, and they should be able to build off of those kinds of drives once the season gets underway.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

he hasnt been to bad only had the real one bad game against the buccs i remember evryone speaking praise for him after his first game saying he did pretty well, and come the second game it seems to be a total turn around and pewople want him ousted from his position. just wait until the next game or 2 until the positions should be really set in stone

Yes, it has been that bad IMO. Our o-line also wasnt facing their starters on that drive. Bennie Anderson got owned multiple times... it was embarrassing...

well said

if we went that route, Carey would more likely move to guard and DMac and the others would compete for RT.

Well, we might as well show him the door if that's the case......

Personally, I think the entire starting OL played very unsettled against the Bucs on the first two drives. Sometimes it takes a series or two in order to get comfortable, and that was the case on Saturday.....

I'm not going to say I'm happy with the overall performance of RG B. Anderson, but I'm not going to blame him for the entire OL playing soft during the start of the game. I could name a few instances where Carey / Shelton / and Hadnot didn't look so hot either, but the bottom line is that this is a unit, and they are all equally responsible for protecting the QB.....

We'll see, From what Ive heard Toledo has impressed coaches, and he'll be good to go by thursday. If I can find the link I'll post it.

Showing him the door is a little extreme... but showing him the bench would be good for me. He got beat off the ball multiple times, giving up 2 sacks and a couple of hurries. On top of that, he had 3 false starts and 2 were back to back on 3rd down...

He sucked...

that bad and can't improve???????

Bennie Anderson is going to be fine. He is the same type of mauling guard Jamie Nails gave us for a single season. You do remember Ricky gaining 1,800 and change don't you. Pre season is pre season; adjustment and fine tuning. This O-line will be the best we have fielded since the Dolphins didn't allow a sack for 19 games in 83-84. Probably won't be pitching a 19 game shut out like those fellas, but I expect and Hudson will deliever a line vastly improved from last year and the second half of last year they looked pretty freaking good.:refuse:

Bad comparison. Bennie Anderson got cut from the Bills for a reason. After Ricky's 1,800+ yard season we had no such intention of cutting Jamie Nails.

The original idea in the thread is a good one -- I actually wonder if McIntosh can play RG, because that would allow Hadnot to stay at center instead of moving Hadnot to RG and putting Joe Berger at center. Because lemme tell ya what -- if Anderson keeps playing this way he won't be the starting right guard.
