I'm shocked they're still in a bye position.
It doesn't matter if Clemson also wins out? They do have one more loss overall than Miami, so I think you're right.

But possibly not if it gets to the convoluted tiebreakers:

One of the commentators for the Clemson-Pitt game just said that even if Clemson wins today, they need UM to lose a game to get to the conference championship game. So UM just needs to win out and doesn't have to worry about tiebreakers. That's a load off my mind. That also means losing last week didn't matter at all, unless they happen to be knocked out of the top 4 despite winning out.

If UM wins out they are assured of a top 4 seed, and a bye. They can't be "knocked out". Only minor thing loss to GT might mean is between #3 and 4 seed. I think if BYU wins out it's BYU 3 and UM 4, but if Colorado wins out, it'll be UM 3, Buffs 4.

UM moved up one, both overall and in terms of conference leaders. I think just because BYU lost. Unless we look at the final bracket and think UM would've had a better match-up or side of the bracket if they were unbeaten, the one loss won't matter.

I was shocked to find out that Notre Dame can never have a first round bye because they're not in a conference. I thought they were given special treatment like they always are.

ND is probably given special treatment if needed based on their legends and history and fanbase, but don't need it this year. Unless they somehow lose to Army๐Ÿ˜‚. They surely can join a major conference if they want to. (And might do it moving forward).

Yep UM's loss doesn't matter, except that there's no leeway to lose to WF or Syracuse. I guess maybe if they beat GT and went to the ACC Championship undefeated and lost a close game they MIGHT have snuck in as a 10-12 seed at large bid? Depending on how other games went.

It is great with Miami doing so well...9-1 and with that I get to see many games even up here in Northern Canada.

With that, watching them today is frustrating LOL. They look dominant and then do something dumb and turn the ball over.

Nevertheless, it is fun to watch and as I write this they got 2 sacks to knock Wake Forest out of FG range 20-14 Miami!

It's a good thing today's game didn't need to be a beauty contest(Unless UM loses the ACC championship game but still has a chance to get into the playoffs). If it did, we'd have to hope the poll voters only looked at the score and didn't watch the game. It was 20-14 until there was 10 minutes left in the game. Just looking at the score would give anybody a completly wrong impression of the game. The defense played with their food in the first half and the offense probably did that the whole game but were bailed out by the defense at the end. Maybe UM played down to the level of their competition?

I forgot that their RB that was terrorizing UM and I think missed the whole second half. He was injured right before halftime. Maybe that explains why Wake Forest was shut out in the second half and not UM's defense.

They has zero passing yards the second half. How about giving our team some credit for playing well ?

5 sacks , a pick 6 and the D gave up a total of 7 points
