What makes them "America's Team" exactly?

America's Team?

- Poor leadership
- No one takes accountability
- No one wants to assume responsibility
- Point fingers and blame others
- Overspending
- Too many flashy *me first* guys
- Poor decision making
- Recent decline

Sounds like America to me!

I dont know about you guys but I really hate the Dallas Cowgirls, I always have

Well, it's more slogan than reality now, but, when I was growing up, it was pretty much true.

Pretty much spot on. I believe a filmmaker coined the term America's Team when making a montage of one of their Super Bowl runs and it stuck.

What many forget is that in the 70s we had much less coverage of the NFL than we do today. For one, there were less nationally televised games to begin with. When a game was on, chances are the Cowboys were one of the teams playing. Combine that with the fact that the Sunday Ticket obviously didn't exist either, and newer fans that were not in remote access of their local teams ended up following the Cowboys because a) they were successful and b) were easy to follow.

I think what makes the Cowboys 'America's Team' is their putting a lot of effort into trying to publicise themselves as being 'America's Team'. As written earlier, there are thirty-two teams in the NFL. There can't be such a thing as a true 'America's Team'. Besides, if any team was going to be 'crowned' with this apparent title of 'America's Team' shouldn't it really have to be a team which has been around for longer than the Cowboys?

Maybe they're "Ameica's Team" because they're always watching the playoffs from the comfort of thier own home, with friends and family :)
