I think the Dallas Cowboys are the blueprint that we could look at for the future.

The Cowboys offensive line is GREAT. I see how much time Romo has to throw it. He could eat a sandwich while Witten and Bryant get open. Their line opens huge holes for Demarco Murray. Even Daniel Thomas could get 100 behind that line. The Cowboys have the perfect balanced attack between their passing and running game.

The Cowboys have a beast in Dez Bryant...lets get us a big beast receiver.

The Cowboys have a TE in Witten who is Mr. Dependable. Lets get us a real TE.

Their Special Teams, Kicker and Punter are rock solid.

Defensively they have lost key guys like LB Sean Lee, and Demarcus Ware, but they are shutting out the Colts and Andrew Luck because they are playing as a team. It all begins and ends with the O-line and D-line. I am not a Cowboy's fan but they have a very blanced team. This could be their year??

Anyone see Weedon's deep ball? One pass-deep TD.

Yeah even old man Weeden is lighting it up. I just wonder why they switch off the Dolphin's game in a blowout but not the Cowboys when they are up 42-0

Thank you. No. If Ross were as bad as Jerruh.. some of you would have to be committed.

That said, I'd rather copy Green Bay on offense & Seattle on D.

There are HS JV's in N Dakota that play 7 on 7 with better D's than the Colts.

Badass coordinators around a crappy HC. Yeah I can see us heading that way if we replace Coyle with Rex. Linehan's an incredible OC. Not a coincidence that offense has taken a huge leap and he even makes Weeden look good.

We either get the big-bodied WR or the great O-lineman, not both. Which one matters more now?
Is Albert under our control in 2015?

Well, I guess we could get a very good guard in round 2. What about LB, though?
I still think we're OK at TE. Healthy Clay and Sims are good enough.
With a really good guard and a healthy Albert, James, Pouncey, Colledge/Fox/Turner we'd probably be OK. We still need one more quality backup for Right Tackle if James or Albert gets hurt.
We badly need more quality secondary help. We need a legit CB2 and a quality nickelback.

Blueprint to success? By drafting Dez Bryant over Jared Odrick has to be there. Right?

No doubt. If we get T-Hill a Dez Bryant or AJ Green type, he"ll be a pro bowl level Qb. Of course, it starts with the OL, but a stud playmaker has to be priority #1

Here is the thing: Dez Bryants and Jason Wittens do not grow on trees. Those are very rare birds, even with Witten aging and battling through injuries constantly. Extremely, extremely talented players.

That said, even though I want a coaching change, I do think there is some validity to the comparison. For years, the Cowboys asked Tony Romo -- who is a criminally underrated quarterback, IMO -- to basically carry that team with nobody but Witten and Bryant to help him out. It's kind of like how the Dolphins are right now asking Ryan Tannehill -- who is highly underappreciated by some folks here -- to carry our team with nobody but Mike Wallace and Charles Clay to help him out. Now, those three guys are better than our three guys, but the similarities are there. I do think there are similarities between the coaching staffs as well.

I just caution you against saying that 'we just need Dez Bryant and an all-pro offensive line.' We are really unlikely to get those things. We're in a situation where in order to go into 2015 with both of those things, we need all of the following to happen:

1. We somehow manage to draft Kevin White, and he's as good as I think he's going to be.
2. Billy Turner starts in 2015 and is better than I think he's going to be.
3. Branden Albert makes a full recovery faster than I think he can.
4. Dennis Hickey goes out and signs Orlando Franklin, or somehow finds some other top-notch player to man the other guard position.

Those things are all very unlikely to happen, in my estimation. I am HOPING that even 2 of those 4 things come to pass. I think 3 and 4 could happen.

I think it's much more realistic to hope for a CAPABLE offensive line and a GOOD wide receiver to pair opposite Mike Wallace. Those are two things that absolutely can be made reality during the off-season. And those are two things that would result in huge improvement in our offensive performance.

Success starts on the lines on both sides of the ball. Until Miami fixes theirs they'll continue to sit at home and watch the playoffs. When you have an OL that gives qbs time to throw, gives receivers time to get open and opens holes for RBs then that makes everyone look that much better.

Football is still won in the trenches and it always will be.

What is amazing to me is that, at one point on this board, what you just said would have gotten your post bashed to death by cornfedites. 2 years of horrendous protection can change perception of what our priorities should have been, eh?

This is the draft to get the big WR and it's also a draft to get a pretty darn good RB. I like Miller but he's still missing a few things that would make him the type of RB other teams fear and defenses have to game plan for (which would open up the passing game like it does for the Cowboys because of Murray).

I think one of the significant things from yesterday's game was that Damien Williams was the first RB off the bench to replace Miller (who got hurt late)...why is that significant? Because it appears we've finally moved on from Daniel Thomas.

Just wait until draft time again. They'll be out in droves marginalizing the effect of drafting good lineman. And yes, the Cowboys D still sucks, even if they had a great game today.
