cost the Fins games this year. I think it was a mistake not bringing in some competition for him this off-season.

Why? Because he missed a couple of 50 yard field goals in a rainy game during our first preseason game? :chuckle:

Relax, the dude has been pretty consistent for us...no need to overreact yet.

get his ass cut if he doesn't show a bit more consistency!

More consistency??? He was our most consistent player besides Brandon Fields last year!

carpenter was good a couple years ago but last year he was off and on. he is far from automatic. after his contract i would not be upset if we let him go

What? He had a bad year a couple of years ago and bounced back last year to have his 2nd best year of his career.

20-29 - 10/11
30-39 - 6/7
40-49 - 11/12
50-59 - 2/4

He was 8 of 8 in the 4th quarter and 14 of 14 in the 2nd half.

Certainly not bad numbers at all.

He is starting to show a propencity for missing the big kick...potential game winners and momentum keeping field goals. I've never been sold on him.

You know what, score more TD's and it's a non issue. we can hope, right?

He's an 85% kicker in the 4th quarter in his career, definitely a kicker I'd like to have.

Dude.... finally someone with common sense

He has been one of the best kickers in the league these past few years and when he misses a few 50 yarders people want to axe him... smh

I just don't get it. Have our fans looked around the league at some of these kickers?? Some teams won't even attempt a 51+ yd fg :bobdole:

really? you were never sold on a guy who was at the tops in the league percentage wise?

I could give a crap if the guy can make 60 yarders. I want someone who is automatic under 50. Your own numbers show he missed ones under 30, under 40 and under 50.

The guy has a big leg, but every time he kicks...I am not sure he is going to make it. That includes chip shots.

I'm not sure if any of his kicks were blocked last year I really don't remember, but being 14 of 14 in the 2nd half last year was the most important stat.

Robbie Gould, one of the best kickers in the game was only 6 for 10 in kicks that were 40-49 yards but in the 4th quarter he was 10 for 10, still worse than Dan Carpenter.

The only reason he had better stats was because he hit all of his 50+ yarders, so if you wanted a kicker that was good under 50 yards then you'd want Carpenter over Gould.
