Dan Henning will be calling plays this year.

Henning has been in the league for 28 years. I think the guy knows a little something about football and how to move the ball. I don't think Parcells would bring someone in that doesn't share the same philosophies as he does.

Excellent news!

I've never been a fan of the HC calling the plays. He should oversee the entire team, not just the offense or defense, etc. etc. etc.

Muhsin got 1400 yards with Henning as OC right? Steve Smith a star? What's wrong with him calling the plays? If he is run heavy and we are good at the run, well I see no problem with that at all!

And that is why he is here. Henning is Mr. Run first which fits Parcells and Coach S's point of view. When I think back to the Redskins of the 80s Henning was the architect of that offense that ended up winning 3 SBs. An offense set on Big Maulers and a power running game.

good. we all saw what happened when Cam was calling the plays.
the head coach should be the head coach. not the OC.

The fact Henning has been through the rebuilding of offenses before bodes well for us.

(On Dan Henning’s reputation for being able to turn around struggling offenses) – “I think, obviously, you’re exactly right. He’s been in some of these situations before. When you look at where they were with the Jets, or when they went into Carolina, that situation wasn’t a great situation when he went into Carolina, and there was a lot that had to be done. We’re in that situation right now. We know the amount of work that has to be done right now. We know that. We know the challenges. I think the great thing about Dan Henning, where he is in his career, is that he’s excited about the challenge. He’s ready to dive in. One of the things he said to me is he said, ‘Tony, I can’t feel my feet hitting the floor right now. I’m walking on air. This is great.’ To see that kind of enthusiasm and excitement come out of somebody that’s in our program and our family right now excites me. I think he does have a reputation of fixing things and helping quarterbacks and those types of things. He is very knowledgeable that way. The receiver end of things right now, he sees the wide receiver position a lot different than most and can be really critical of that position and help the players in that position. We have young players in some of those situations, so that’s going to be helpful for us, to bring that kind of experience to the yonger players.â€

power running game with lots of play action, i love it, simple old school smashmouth NFC type football

This is good news i believe for us Dolfans, Dan Hennig, as said here before, HAS been able to turn around fledging offenses. In New York he did it with Curtis Martin and Vinny Testaverde, an average qb at best. In Carolina he helped nurture a virtual unknown in Jake Delhomme into a pro-bowl caliber player. In both instances he had the offenses playing championship-type football.

The key to our offense is Ronnie Brown's recovery and John Beck's ability to learn the system and mature into a starting quarterback. If both go well, our skillset is able to run the football with power and play-action effectively. If nothing else, Henning has a proven track record, much experience, and itll leave Sparano time to oversee the entire team.
