I saw a lot of people in the game thread were killing Dan for calling a T.O there. I think it was the right call, and not just because we were able to stop them. I know everyone had visons of the Philbin call against Green Bay but it was a completely different situation. As I remember it the clock was running and Green Bay was scrambling to get a play in. They seemed confused and were on the road also fighting the crowd. That timeout gave them time to draw up the correct play and pull out the win. Yesterday the clock was stopped on the play before so they were in no rush. They were at home so there was no noise to mess with them. Plus with the way Kelly calls the plays speed is their friend. The smartest thing to do there was call the T.O. get the D set and slow down that offense. Their speed had us on the ropes more than once, thankfully we were able to get set and have a game winning stop.

At the time, I thought he eagles were in disarray after several bad play calls and Miami's defense making plays. Time was working against them. It allowed them to regroup with Sanchez.
I questioned it. Fortunately, it worked out OK.
You never know. I would not blame Dan either way.

The Packers game was worse because iirc on third down they came up strong with a sack and it was looking like they weren't even going to be able to get a play off and then obviously the rest is history. Imo two different situations

Player makes tackle to prevent first down, decision turned out OK. Good enough for me.

this is correct. Not only a sack, but a fumble as well recovered by a GB lineman. And all this after pressure on 1st and 2nd down that forced two poor Rogers throws. GB had no time outs - if they did they would have called one after the sack. That was the worst use of a time out in Dolphins history. Yesterday you could argue either way - not even close to the same situation.

I had no problem with the timeout. We had so many kids on the field playing in this game...it was probably better that Dan did call it to make sure everyone was set.

Worked out fine....

All Dan's choices paid off yesterday. People like to fixate on these singular coaching decisions during a game as the value of an HC which is a ridiculous simplification. But you can't complain about how he handled things this game after taking so much criticism the previous week.

The circumstances were a bit different. Philly's high-octane offense was tough to deal with considering the experience level of some of the young pups forced into the defense yesterday.

But unfortunately many would! People play the results constantly. Never fails!

There is no comparison between this and the Packers play. The Packers had just been strip sacked and the clock was running, so they were scrambling to get the play off as quickly as possible.

The clock was stopped in this instance. There is nothing wrong with what Campbell did. Unlike Joe in the Packers game, we did not stop a running clock for the opposing team.
