Just found this on youtube. Dan Marino just came back from an achilles injury from the previous season and scores big on his season opener with 473 yards passing and 5 touchdowns.

This clip shows the Final drive, 4th down and 5, on the 35 yard line, had to go for it or else we would have to kick off the muddy baseball field, and Marino throws a 35 yard pass winning TD to Irving Fryar.

Notice how Don Shula didn't even know what play we we're running.

That game was incredible it was locally blacked out ,So I decided to go see it.Going into the game a lot of people were doubting Marino because he was coming back from his achillis injury. And he played bad in his last preseason game against minnesota. Boy did he prove them wrong

A Classic. A Microcosm of Danny's career. Needed every yard and touchdown pass because our defense was a sieve.

Are you trying to make a grown man cry. That was beautiful man. Anybody see Olividatti say Wow on the sidelines. That explains it all. I still have the SI issue from that game.

That's not exactly true. Since it was 4th and 5, everyone was supposed to be running an underneath route, just to pick up the first down. When they got to the line of scrimmage, Marino and Fryar were both surprised to see that Fryar was in single coverage. Fryar said that Marino gave him "the look", and he knew that meant he was supposed to change his route and go deep. Shula knew what play the team was running, but Marino and Fryar were on a different page than everyone else. This game, and this play in particular, is one of the defining moments of Marino's career.

I am glad to say that i was at that game

What a great game this was. For all you youngsters out there this is classic Marino. I watched all of the Marino era and this might be as good as it gets.

Side note. Not Fins related but I was broke up with my girlfriend at the time. Went to a bar to watch this game on opening day. I hadn't seen her in quite some time. Ran into her at the bar that day. We watched the game together. Then spent the night together. Two years later we were married.

I remember that game very well.

I remember that day...I lived in Buffalo territory, and the only games that were on in that area were the Bills and Browns. I remember having to watch another game, and every time the score ticker came up, either Miami or N.E. had scored...I went nuts at the end when they showed the highlights. I think that was the same game that he threw a flea-flicker to Fryar, too.

I was so bummed I didn't get to see that game.

I still have that tape around here somewhere! May have to watch it for old time's sake 8)

Imagine what Dan and Irving Fryar could have accomplished together if Fryar had a longer career being a Fin ! Must have been hard for Patsie fans to see Fryars stats during that game.

I was only 15, but remember being at that game VIVIDLY. Marino and Bledsoe just tore up the field. Ben Coates for the Pats had a huge game as well as Fryar. I remember on the 4th down play seeing Danny put the ball up and being like WHAT IS HE DOING?!?! Then the stadium exploded... good times man... good times.
