Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said the team drafted S Travis Daniels in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft with the hopes he would eventually play cornerback, reports MiamiDolphins.com. Daniels played both safety and cornerback while at LSU.

From Kffl mabey this opens up a comp. for that Mitch M., Bell and Tillman for the FS position?

Also:

Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said the team will continue to search for a free agent tight end during the offseason, reports MiamiDolphins.com.

I am not sure if they got Holmes or not, but mabey Mcmike is on the outs if he asks for too much, prob. not just speculation, gotta make some news.

He wants to give McMike an extension. We arleady got Alex Holmes and Victor Sesay, the former being a very serious competition for Donald Lee in training camp.

i thought the deal with tebucky jones in new orleans is that they were playing him at SS which was not his more favorable position (FS) and that's what he would play for us...i could be wrong but i thought i remembered reading something along those lines....

The exact opposite. Jones is a strong safety.

Actually, Donald Lee is safe. The competition will be for the third tight end spot. Nick stated in his post draft comments that they only had three tight ends on the roster and wanted to add another tight end at some point. Alex Holmes, Victor Sesay, and Ben Moa will be competing for a spot as the third tight end. Ed Perry is safe as the long snapper, the best in the NFL I might add.

Miami will be running a two tight end set probably 50-60% of the time. Donald Lee's snaps will be increased a lot this year. They also may try to split Randy out some, which means there probably needs to be a third tight end that can play on the bench.

I think Alex Holmes will make the final roster.

Nick is not going to give McMichael an extension. I read somewhere that he is going to let him play out the season, that way it gives Miami options for the future.

I just hope Lee's concentration and play pick up with competition at the position.

If we do lose McMichael via free agency next offseason there is a very good group that will be in the 06 draft led by Marcedes Lewis, Dominique Byrd, Matt Herion, & Tim Day.

I wouldn't say Lee's roster spot is 100% safe, considering the number of mistakes he was making last year. Holmes is a fine blocker, Moa has very good hands and Sesay can block very well and is a surprisingly good receiver for a TE so large. IMO, if say, Holmes and Moa really tear it up during training camps and Lee gets called for too many holds and coughs the ball up a few too many times, he could be looking for a new job.
