Dante Restructures ???

You are a day late and a dollar short. Serioulsy though, he did re-structure his contract, but I am not sure how much we saved under the cap. With Gus gone, I am sure we have atleast 5-6 million.
 
If true... that is awesome...

There goes the concept that Pepper is "greedy" and "selfish"... :rolleyes2

It wasnt actually part of the deal....but he did it the same day he was traded for and passed the physical.

He told Saban and Co. he would redo his contract to help the team and our cap. I think he signed a 5 year contract, $7M signing bonus, and $1M salary this year. He counts $2.4M against the cap, and overall has saved the team $5.6M on the cap this year.

Then we released Gus and saved another 4.3M I believe.

P.S. that website hurts my eyes...man it would give me a headache to read that every day.
 
Yes Daunte restructured but why wouldn't he? He gets exactly the same amount of money this year it is just accounted for differntly. Instead of a $6 mill Roster Bonus due in a few days and a $2 mill Base Salary he gets a $7 mill Signing Bonus and a #1 mill Base Salary. The remainder of his contract is unchanged.
 
Saving 5.6 million is misleading...

That is saving 5.6 million compared to what we would have paid him if he hadn't restructured..

We didn't save 5.6 million by signing him...he basically converted his roster bonus into signing bonus so it gets pro-rated over six years instead of this year...

Yea. We signed him officially yesterday I think. He had been set to sign for a while though

Misleading or not...it is what it is....if no restructure he would have cost us $8M, he agreed to a new deal on paper that helped us save money on paper from a cap perspective. It just a show of good faith.

Agree, its meaningless to him since the $$$ is the same in his pocket...but his smile during the ESPN interview gives me the sense that he is thrilled to be here and ready to play ball in his home state. Thats even more important than the restructure, but his effort may just help get more talent in here to make his tenure a Championship calibur one.

I love it, you are telling all my fellow fin fans the obvious , thay are grasping at every single positive to justify Daunte's signing.:sidelol:
