Doctors are still trying to avoid removing gallbladder. If that eventually is end game, bummer since he could almost be recovered already.

Dolphins' Mike Pouncey won't play again today. He's still having trouble keeping food down, which is making it tough to put weight back on.

Terrible doctor judgements on this one.

Just had mine out 4 weeks ago. He would not be recovered yet. Can't lift anything over 15lbs for 3 weeks or you can get a hernia.

No offense, but that is not what others have said on this site and what typical internet research shows. Perhaps his was not as invasive as your happened to be.

I understand the want to avoid surgery, but this decision is hurting the team.

It all depends on if the GB is removed laparoscopically or via open cholecystectomy, and that depends on the severity of the problem i.e. inflammation vs gangrenous.
Recovery time for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy is much shorter. They should have just removed it 2 weeks ago.

He is done for a long time, it depends what caused his gallbladder and pancreas to crap out, they go hand in hand. Mine was caused from to much beer and I also have Hyperlipidemia, which involves abnormally elevated levels of any or all lipids and/or lipoproteins in the blood. Fat in the blood. I work out and coach all the time and it took me 2 months just to recover from this, my pancreas and digestive track is still not the same..

I was in icu for 2 days and in the hospital for additional 10 days. I went form 245 lbs down to 208 in 2 weeks. I weighed less than my senior year in high school. I now am back up to my normal weight 225, but can no longer drink and have to watch fatty foods. I know pouncey is a huge drinker, his bozzn days are done or he will die for pancreatic cancer. My doctor told me that almost all of his patients that can't stop drinking usually die within the next 2 to 7 years..

Basically this is like having the worst stomach flu you could imagine but it last for 10 days, but i am fast healer and I'm not huge drinker..I was lucky though, my gall bladder survived and my pancreas has no cysts(no cancer) everything healed normally.

If this is true that they have to remove his gall bladder he is out for the remainder of the season. I also had to take it very easy for months as my pancreas healed, if you take a impact to the chest or back while your pancreas is in this state it can be life threatening. The doctors didn't let me drive for 2 weeks after I got out for the hospital.

Again, mark my words he will be out the remainder of the season. Sorry guys...

Him and Cogs just put down way to much booze and steaks..

mine was laparoscopy with no problems at all an it was 3 weeks before I could lift 15 lbs. But some finheavens experts did research on the internet so I guess I have no clue what I am talking about. If it's on the internet it has to be true. Bonjour.

Do you think a pro athlete might have more recovery powers than you?

When the internet research comes from legit medical info websites, I think it does count for something

Look, we're a .500 club who's line played pretty decent when he sat last week. If we were in the hunt for a division or already making a playoff run I'd say he needs to get out there quickly. Let the guy get well. What's he rushing back to? 9-7? Same for all our injured guys right now like Patterson and the rookies. I want to win, but we're a middling team right now and Pouncey isn't the difference maker right now.

Wow hayden, i like reading your stuff all the time, but dude i pray to god that you don't coach any sports. Let's remove an organ for the sake of the fins.. LMAO...they did everything they could to save all my organs, glad you weren't one of my doctors...

Also, I don't give a crap what kind of shape pouncey was in, if you are bed ridden for more than a week atrophy sets in, plus he hasn't eatn in how long, he will look like he came out of concentration camp when all is said and done. I did and i was in great freakn shape before i went in...

That is not it. Do you think that might be the healthy decision for him?

I guess I would have tried the meds too. However, it is a fairly routine surgery.

BTW, if I was coach, we would have beaten the Bills because I would have run the ball at the end of the game...lol. Think of yourself at 6-4. Sounds good eh?

This seems to the norm. Not two weeks. And if he does have the surgery he will be out the rest of the season. This is not a tonsillectomy. This is abdominal surgery. Anyone that has had any surgery in their abdomen knows he will not be ready to play again this season.

Invasive or non invasive, this surgery is serious business and like I have said since the first day we heard about this. "should he have the surgery, he may miss the rest of the season". I would bet he could not return in 2013.

And if they did, he would still not be cleared to practice and may not be able to contribute any to the rest of the season.
Either way with surgery, hes gone, maybe for good.
