The Dolphins have also expressed interest in free agent OG Daryn Colledge.
Colledge will meet with the Eagles on Tuesday. In Miami, he'd have a much better shot to start at right guard where third-round rookie Billy Turner and second-year G/T Dallas Thomas are currently expected to compete for the job. May 13 - 8:45 AM

Good, Camp competition...hopefully a solid starter out of the group emerges...

Whether we decide we want him, and end up signing him or not, looking forward, it's encouraging that Hickey's apparent default is to keep all options open. Pretty sure Ireland would not have been as receptive, believing his investments in Dallas and Billy would be more than sufficient (you know, like believing Martin could successfully transition to the left side).

Very athletic and mobile OG/OT, went to Boise State. 2nd rd draft pick 2006, I think that he'd be a good signing.

I brought up Colledge when he was first released by Arizona. While not an outstanding player, he is certainly not a complete scrub. The guy has proven he can play in this league and has started in both Green Bay and Arizona. He played under Philbin in Green Bay, which strikes me as curious seeing as we didnt bring him in right away.

Given our need at the position and Philbin's familiarity with him it makes me wonder if Philbin even believes Colledge is any good. The guy obviously knows the system and at worst wouldve given us depth in the case we were to get better players in the meantime.

This could be a case like Matt Flynn. Philbin knows the player and the player knows his system. Perhaps Philbin just dosent think the player is good enough? If Philbin believed in the guy, I dont see why we wouldnt have signed him right away when he was released. That wouldnt have stopped us from still looking for other guards.

I hope we aren't forced to start either Turner or Thomas at guard.

I hope we are. Billy Turner is a mean SOB and he's gonna be good. I'll give him a few games to take his lumps and gladly receive in return a guy who is going to hurdle over fallen defenders in order to blast people 5+ yards downfield.

It doesn't seem to be Hickey's MO to bring guys here just for a meeting, I think we've offered contracts to every player that's visited and signed most of them. It makes sense to wait until after the draft in case the board falls in a way that we end up drafting a few top guards and it also makes sense to let the guy visit other teams first to get a sense of his value.

He's average on the pass, worse than Jerry, bad on the run but, better than Jerry, which is why he's still out there. I'm hoping for someone better be be released.
