I was just wondering if anyone knew the exact details of DC's contract. With all these drafting rumor possibilities going around, I was wondering if it is even possible. This is not a DC bashing thread. I like DC and think he still has a chance to get healthy and be very productive...And it is also not a "let's draft a QB" thread. I just simply wanted to know the information to see if it is even at all possible. How much is guaranteed to DC? Can we let him go or trade him? What kind of hit would we take? Would we keep him even if we drafted a 1st round QB? If so, how would we afford it? I really don't know this much about his contract and was wondering if someone can enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

i'm pretty sure cutting him would cost almost as much as keeping him around and i kno he won't have much trade value...we traded a 2nd for him and then u wanna trade him for less than that the next yr...not gonna happen...cpep will be starting next yr however they still could draft a qb to groom

It's worth keeping him at this point. He hasn't had an opportunity to play healthy and we know he is capable of great things.

I do think we will have to play him a few games late in the season to see where he's at. One of the things that worried me is that he didn't seem able to make the quick decisions. Part of that is being rusty. Hopefully things will be better in several weeks. If he's not... well, this board will really light up

thanks for the input guys!!!! I really just hope he can return to form so we can all just relax and have a great QB, but it worries me that our future is in jeopardy!

i just have his base salaries..c-pep is making 1m this year, 5.5m in '07, 6m in '08 and '09, 7m in '10, 8m in '11, 9m in '12 and 10 m in 2013..very cap-friendly and i know he restuctured this year...i got this from dolphin digest just so you know..

He also converted his $6M roster bonus this year to a signing bonus as a part of the restructure. He also had some incentive bonuses added that he won't get this year at least.

DC is our QB of the future, just hope like heck he reverts to 2004 form. We need to play him in 3-4 games late this season though so we know whether we need to draft a QB for future grooming, while our draft picks are high.

Regardless of where Daunte is, if we fall into position to take a QB to groom for the future, we should take him. It's about time. Daunte doesn't have to go anywhere for this scenario. Infact, he can stick around and teach the kid how to take a sack (just an innocent jab at the Daunte booty smoochers).

Thanks for all the input everyone!!! I also think it may be a great idea to draft someone to groom regardless if we have the chance!

Dunno what it would cost to cut him and don't really see that as an option either. He's not going anywhere for awhile.

dc cap hit next year will be aroung 6.25 mil. if you trade or release him it will be about 6 mil. not much of a difference.but if we only keep him for 07 then trade or release it will end up costing us about 12 mil for just one season.

Unless a team wants to trade for Daunte, he's staying. And hopefully we'll have a fair QB competition next offseason. If Daunte can't perform in 1-2 years, he's as good as gone.
