Though Dolphins coach Nick Saban drew as many giggles as criticism in the fourth quarter Thursday for hesitantly lofting the challenge flag, some of his quarterback's fourth-quarter throws didn't look much better.

In fact, some of Daunte Culpepper's throws looked more like he was trying to paint the corners on Barry Bonds than burn corners with throws to wide receivers. Three of the Dolphins' first five drives ended with open receivers vainly reaching for wayward balls.

After the Dolphins scored on three consecutive drives, Steelers safety Troy Polamalu nearly intercepted Culpepper on one drive and did pick him off on the next. Then came the Joey Porter interception return for a touchdown that clinched the game for the Steelers.

Culpepper said afterward, ''My knee felt pretty good. There were no big issues there.'' He ran three times for 8 yards and was sacked three times.

he threw some passes on thursday that no quarterback has thrown here since dan marino. he is much better than any QB we've had since marino.

as long as he doesnt reinjure his knee, he will be a huge plus for us...

should have given joey some snaps daunte had a shocker

Right because giving Joey some un-necessary snaps really helps Daunte get back on track and into his form......

People need to realize that a starting quarterback means they start the game and play the entire sixty minutes, barring an injury.

We've gotten so used to Jay Fiedler vs AJ Feeley vs Gus Frerotte that we don't remember what its like to have a STARTER and a BACKUP.

No one, ever, should say "start Joey" unless Peps goes down. Thats all there is to it.

Culpepper is our starting quarterback, and the leader of this team. If Joey or anyone else for that matter even takes one snap while he's still healthy, its going to throw everything into chaos.

Even more so then two interceptions on back to back throws.

daunte will improve over time
remember its his first year in miami which means first year with these players and first year with this playbook

Lets hope he plays better next week, but the Ol needs to block better for him, I would think its hard to time your passes right when you have 4 or 5 black jerseys in your face.
