Daunte and the staff admit he is only about 85% recovered from his injury. I feel Daunte is a highly talented QB but it seems clear his timing is off due to the injury. Our recievers are getting open but it seems balls are being thrown low, or high,or behind them disrupting the flow of the offense. IMO Daunte not being able to step into his throws and his slight slowness in his mobility is allowing the timing to be thrown off with his recievers and his passes to be telegraphed by defenses.Every second of a three step drop is crucial for the ball to be delivered on time whether it be a handoff or pass.I feel we have a good offense and the playcalling to be succesful, but it all hinges on timing. There is only a small window of time to get the ball to an open player. Im not questioning Dauntes skills but why dont we go with one of our backups till he is gamespeed ready?

I don't know about that, but he was noticeably limping on the sidelines which I hadn't seen him do in any of the preseason games.

it doesnt seem clear to me. everyone keeps complaining about daunte, 3 and a half quarters of that game daunte played just fine, and had we won that game no one would be saying dauntes timing is a problem. why not save all the put harrington crap in for after weve seen two games? daunte will be fine. there arent three quarterbacks in this league id rather have on my team over daunte culpepper.

I remember reading reports last year about the injury and the doctors were saying he would be ready by ~ week 8, for whatever that's worth. He is obviously ahead of that schedule, but starting him appears to be a bit premature based on his hesitation to scramble and subtle limp.

I believe the injury is a factor as far as him being able to scramble and get away from the rush. I don't believe however that it has anythig to do with him under throwing the ball to his wideouts. That's just rust.

I saw him limping, I don't think that was a factor in the two INTz he threw though.

He was tricked by the Defense on those two throws. He has been just as accurate as far as his completion percentages as he has been all through out his career.

The issue with Culpepper when he was with MN was his ability to read defenses, which is the same thing that got him last week. I'm pretty confident that he will rebound and have a better year...

I remember watching Big Ben two years ago when the pats tricked him into throwing interceptions in the playoffs. It was the same deal, he was very accurate he just didn't read the D right....

The injury may have affected his scrambling ability, but the late-game mistakes from him are normal

Im not blaming Daunte for the loss, or saying our other QBs are better, or denying him that he did a miracoulous job to recover up to this point ,im saying with the injury it seems it would benefit both the team and Daunte to let him fully heal.

And with all that said, I still think he threw the ball pretty damn well. So if he's in a groove and completely healthy, you have to feel good about whats ahead for Daunte and this team. I think he just needs some time to get a little rhythum.

This is clear to you? Hmm, well then you'd better find a way to get in touch with Nick Saban and let him know your profound discovery! You are not a fan if you keep this to yourself!
:rolleyes2

It was the first game you can't put too much into it.
