:cooldude: with all these threads about ginn vs warfield and all i though i would see who would you guys rather play for if you were a player and who was better then who at certain things.
example
who was better at the draft wanny or saban ? I am going with wannstedt on offense but saban on defense but i was not overwowed with excitement with saban's draft picks.

who had the better offense dave or nick ? i am saying dave did because saban had mularkey.

on defense i would say nick but nicks secondary made dave's secondary look like hall of famers.

we have critisized dave 's draft im the wake of the eddie moore fiasco but it really is a draw because matt roth hasnt shown us anything yet and neither has jason allen so this is a draw.

as for playing for these coaches i say wanny but i am not sure that I wouldnt want to play for saban i just dont know.

Matt Roth CERTAINLY has shown us something... enough to cut Kevin Carter.

Saban was the better coach. He knew football... he was just a dick...

Saban also did better at drafting. Ronnie, Roth, Crowder, and Daniels were all good draft picks...

I hate Saban... but he was better than Wanny...

Wake me when it's over.

Right, all those great draft picks. As Wanny's personel leave, our record descends. I'll believe that Saban excelled with regard to the draft and personel decisions, when we start to win. Call me then.

I agree, but Saban only really had one good drafting year. He appears to have pretty much struck out on last year's picks.

the thing i didnt like about wanny was that he over used the running game and didnt give randy mcmicheal the ball enough i think dave's biggest problem was he had some misfortune in landing f/a oline and the ricky fiasco did him in. i think if dave would have drafted boldin instead of eddie moore then he wouldnt of had egg on his face.

We will have to wait and see. We would have thought Roth was worthless after looking at him after his 1st season. JAllen actually contributed more during his rookie year than Roth did. But now Roth is a stud...

I will say this in dave's defense injuries didnt help his cause any after boston went down . Pat jones said when he was on dave's coaching staff they all disagreed with dave on the passing of brees but dave said he would pick brees if they hadnt thrown so much money on feidler and thats why they went with fletcher.

The past is the past and I am looking to the future with Cam. I am also optimistic for this season and ready to see what kind of HC Cam will be...only time will tell. But when was the last time we were this active and the talk of the nfl? Granted we are being ripped for Ginn.....but heck it is better than oh the lowly Phins did not do anything. Well we did something this year that neither Saban or Wanny did....we took a huge chance, about time!!!!!

As far as the post goes.....I think Wanny gave more of himself but was limited by his glaring weaknesses. Saban is an idiot but the man is smart and an ego maniac. Lets hope he gets his butt kicked by every Florida school for years to come (to include Florida Atlantic if they ever played!!).

I still think we are years away from repairing the damage Wanny did to this team... Jamar FLetcher(1st round pick), AJ Feeley(2nd Round Pick), Gordon (3rd round pick), Ricky Williams (2 1st round picks) I could keep going on but I think you have the point.

As for Saban, don't get me wrong I loved him when we got the guy but I still don't understand why he gave a 2nd round pick for a QB (DC) when he could of gotten Brees for free. The other issue is many of Sabans signings where older players to win now, he tried to turn the franchise around overnight instead of rebuilding it... which is what he should of done.

Basically I am happy they are both gone, the problem is they left the fins in a really bad situation... Let's hope this regime actually does better and makes us a contender.

I literally feel ill even having to talk about this!

Wanny couldn't hold Saban's jock strap.
He was a complete and utter failure in every aspect on 2 teams.
He ran both the Bears and Dolphins into the ground by both his lack of GM skills and coaching skills.

Yes we all hate Saban because he lied and left the his job unfinished.
Regardless, he had a great draft his first year and the story of the 2nd draft will be told more this year. If he would have stayed I believe we eventually would have been successful as many NFL and college people have praised his coaching talent. Wanny on the other hand is hopeless.

Too early to call it on Saban's drafts. Regarding the 2006 guys, Saban had a strange aversion to playing the less experienced. I think it's strange, at least, considering the fact that he was a college coach who should have been used to coaching up guys straight out of high school. Point being, the Phins 2006 draft class has not gotten enough of an opportunity to say whether or not they sucked.

At any rate, I think Saban turned out to be a total tool. But he's an excellent football coach and he had a plan for this team as far as his general manager duties were concerned. One of the biggest differences between Saban and Wannstedt was that Saban was capable of changing his approach when he saw that it wasn't working. Wannstedt was like an orangutan or something...too dumb or afraid to try something new. With Saban, you might be miserable but you knew the ship would get righted eventually...and you knew that excellence would be demanded.

But there is also something to be said for a pleasant working environment...even if it means mediocrity (i.e. Wannstedt).

So it's a matter of personal preference, I guess. I'd rather go with the tougher, more demanding one (Saban) as long as he was fair about it.

You could not be more correct.
He rode a defense stocked before he got here and added almost nothing to the team in value for his entire tenure here.
