Has anybody ever wonder why Wannstedt seem to have a aversion towards quality QB's?

These were his QB's in Chicago:

Erik Kramer
Dave Krieg
Steve Walsh
Jim Harbaugh
Steve Stenstrom
Rick Mirer

And in Miami:

Jay Fielder
Ray Lucas
Brian Griese
A.J. Feeley

In 12 years as a head coach the best QB that Wannstedt could come up with was probably Dave Krieg and he was 38 and at the end of his career.

It was a couple years ago that I noticed this puzzling trend and I was just curious on how bad they were, but I didn't expect this. I mean look at these guys, they are freakin' horrible!

Sometimes I just have to shake my head on why a head coach of 12 years never bother in getting a top notch QB, hell his best attempt was Feeley. And if you look at the QB's in had in Chicago for seven years, none of them were better than the crap he got in Miami.

Sorry to bring up bad memories, but this is so baffling on his pathetic choices you have to ask what on earth was this man thinking and that I can't believe we wasted five years on this ******* and his clowns behind center.

that is one of the finer lists ever made. stocked with talent. But Jim Harbaugh was probably the best. Not that it matters.

Welcome btw, nice post.

Ok, I have to give my honest opinion here.

I think Jay Fiedler did a decent job for the Dolphins, we won a lot of games with him here.

:couch:

Well, if you take the top 16 games played by all of those guys combined during their tenures under Wanny, you could probably get a solid season. I mean, Erik Kramer alone played like 3 or 4 really good games in his career. :)

I'll give you this, Fielder was probably the 2nd best of the whole lot, but that's not really saying much.

Erik Kramer was a damnn good Q.B. UNTIL Wanny got a hold of him and ruined the guy.

That list is a little thin though is'nt it...

Then again...when your offensive phylosiphy is run, run, pass, punt you don't need anybody back there...

:rofl3: that is so true

You know, I actually do think it was intentional and not circumstance that Wanny used lousy QB's. His approach to offense was mindnumbingly conservative and I think his preferred quarterback is of the Trent Dilfer caretaker mode. A top tier QB could never have been satisfied in that offense and the last thing Wanny wanted was a power struggle. I think Wanny was a coach who had a very clear philosophy and "system" (or lack thereof) that supported it. He wasn't the kind of guy that would adapt things based on the talent he had or go after guys that weren't necessarrily suited to his style, even if they were the most talented. Scary he was allowed to coach in the NFL for so long.

:rofl3: Oh, I still have nightmares about the playcalling.

Its funny though, I do remember Kramer having some great games. That's why I mentioned his name in my other post. Think he was even on my fantasy team for a while.
