I think David Ball would be a very good wide receiver to pick up in the later rounds of the draft. I don't know how many of you watched the Shrine game today, but he was very impressive. First off, the announcers kept talking about how he looks and plays alot like Jeff Samardiza(SP?), which I take it to be a good thing considering the real one is off to play baseball now. Secondly, his play itself was fantastic. He's fairly quick (I'm going to have to find a 40 time), but what was most impressive was his hands. He goes up and catches everything away from his body displaying good hand technique, like a WR should and Chambers doesn't always do. However, aside from his play he also came across as a very intelligent young man. In an interview he was asked about how he was able to make the play when he didn't have a great angle. He mentioned how he new the turf wasn't in the best shape and that the Db's had been having problems with it, so he made a move that would cause the Db to slip. That tells me this kid is a "smart" player and probably knows the intricacies of his position. The biggest knock against him is that he's from a small school (New Hampshire) and scouts are unsure of how he can play against hard bump and run coverage.

Regardless, I think we should pick him up in the later rounds (possibly day 2). Flame Away.:dolphins:

I saw the game and agree he was impressive. I'm not sure if we could even get him with our 6-7th rd pick after the exposure he recieved tonight.

Depending on how high is stock rises, he might be worth the 4th. Considering we don't have a 5th.

Yeah, that was some pretty impressive play. And anybody who avoids a player because they're from a small school after Marques Colston put on a receivers clinic during the NFL season is a fool.

UNH Baby!

Yeah, I'm pretty familiar w/Ball. I watched quite a few UNH games this year (being a semi-alumn and fan) and he is very good. Not blazing speed but will catch anything you throw at him. There's a reason he broke Jerry Rice's TD reception record.

The Samardzijia comparison is very accurate.

I would love to see the Fins get him in the mid-to-late rounds. :D

I thought of that, but wouldn't give up our fourth. I try not too put too much stock in one game.

One of the announcers said they asked him what he think he'll run for the scouts and he said 4.5

If they think he'll have trouble against bump and run coverage then he'll be a slot receiver where he'll have a step or two to avoid most of the bump.

Dave is from my hometown and highschool. He is a stand up guy and a extremly hard worker. His dad was my football coach from 5-8th grade. Dave has been working on being the best he can be since I can remember. He owns Vermonts long jump record. Coming out of high school he was more impressive in track than footbball. He was also a star basketball player and won 2 state championships. He will be a sucess because of his work ethic and attitude. He broke Jerry Rices TD record in Divsion 2A football.
