On re-watch when I have time to sit down and key in on certain players, I find that they did not do as bad as I thought. David Fales is one of those players.

His passes were on target for the most part and now that I think of it, they usually are on target. That interception was on the WR in my opinion. You have to go up and get that football one on one coverage. I don't fault any QB for taking that shot.

Owusu dropped a beautifully thrown TD pass in the end zone which would have significantly improved Fales' stats.

Then there was this nice pass:

Playing with 2nd and 3rd string players, it is difficult to shine if they are out there dropping balls or not beating one on one coverage. Fales had a chance with the 1st team offense against the Bills last year and proved that he can put his team in a position to win football games.

I'm starting to understand why Gase is deadset on keeping Fales vs going out and getting someone else. He is not a sloppy QB and he is not afraid to take shots downfield. Lastly, he definitely understands Gase's offense.

I would tend to agree. Lots of overreaction after a couple of low QB rating games. He played last year (in a real game) and had like 67% completion rate, 265 yards, a TD and a pick. He has looked improved over most of camp and like you said is playing with backups. No WR after Grant on the depth chart will likely even make an NFL team this year.

Due to injuries to our top WR's, he has to play with guys lower on the depth chart. Stills and Parker were injured. Grant, Wilson & Amendola were running with the 1's... so his top guys are Owusu, Ford, Scott and Carroo.

From what I've heard he has actually improved his arm strength in the off-season. Not something you usually see happen.

Totally with ya man.

Yes he’s not perfect and he’s not going to turn into a franchise qb, but he’s not as bad as some people want to make him out to be. How many other team’s back ups are head and shoulders better? Which ones have young guys worthy of developing? I’d bet that number isn’t that high

Osweiler is bad. Really bad. Need to see more of petty but fales is the best of this bunch from what I’ve seen

That long interception against the Ravens really wasn't his fault, either. He threw it well outside the numbers and it's up to the wide receiver to get open and to go up and get that ball. The corner basically ran the route better than Rashawn Scott.

David Fales usually fails to impress me on a snap for snap basis but the thing he has a nasty habit of doing is every 10th pass whipping out something brilliant that always forces me to re-think him. Then you notice that these barely missed opportunities where he did the right thing but the play didn't quite get executed one way or another, they pile up and you realize, my goodness he was not far off from having a day that most people would call brilliant.

ZACTLY! Some seem to think 31 other teams have a backup who would make Pro Bowl. Yes, I'd love to have a better backup, but so would 25 other teams (I picked that number out of the air). I may be in a minority, but Fales is no worse than MM.

I agree -- I was one of the peeps really liking Fales LAST preseason and was disappointed he was cut. Subsequently a tad surprised he didn't get picked up -- until Gase brought him back. I actually think he has a number of qualities (as a passer) I like better than Thill. He seems to see the field better and seems to make quicker decisions... NO! I'm not trying to stir up a controversy but Fales is a decent backup IMO.

There was a throw in the drive I believe at the start of the 2nd where we ended up turning it over on downs. Anyway he was under severe pressure, he steps up and makes a great throw which is caught and the drive continues. I don't want to be bashed by the Tannehill crowd but I honestly thought to myself RT takes a sack there. He's not a bad back up in my mind and certainly worthy of the back job next year, don't know what he gives us in the long run though, he's never going to be anything more than what he is bit like Moore. That's why my choice if I had one would be Petty, I see a player there that you could develop more.

I agree, it's not his fault if the WR fails to go up and get the ball.

Yeah there were two routes run by Rashawn that looked really bad - Legadu Nenee-ish. He was flailing around instead of being stout, establishing ground, and going up and getting the rock. I thought he would step up this year, but he just isn't ready to be on the 53.

I like Fales - he has moxy. However, I do not want Brock on this roster.

Post the gif of the int. Cause I could have sworn that corner was stacked

pretty safe to assume he will be the back up and we should all hope he doesn't have to play as that's mean Tannehill is healthy.

Fales also threw what absolutely should have been a pretty nice touchdown to Leonte Carroo in the Panthers game. Leonte didn't even really try to get that second foot in-bounds. It was well within reason.

yea well ford look ****,I DON'T hear you harping on that CK . It's time to move on and let the cut down begin

One thing I know, this forum has a great
capacity to not recognize just how good a QB is.

If Fales aint respected and Gase thinks he's sliced bread, well, pass me the bread please.
