David Gerrard

Not that i dont like Garrard or Volek or Kitna or any of those guys you mentioned. But i'm just not sure bringing in yet ANOTHER backup is really what the Phins need right now, however if we did draft a QB high and brought in one of those guys for insurance i wouldn't be upset. I just dont want any July QB competitions between Frerotte vs. Kitna

I think the difference between Gerrard and the other two is that Gerrard is starting material. If he takes them to the playoffs, Fat Albert might find himself in a position battle.

well no.....but i think Gus is gone after this season, we could also cut Lemon and use Garrard as a backup, along with Sage....and just draft a QB. Garrard would probably start. But then there is like Jon Kitna, Billy Volek who are all good veterans

why the heck would we cut him when we gave a 6th for him?

What's up with all the "we don't need backups" talk?

If a very good QB happens to be in a place where he is backing up an entrenched starter then why the negativity? If Brady was drafted in the 6th round by the Colts to be a backup to Peyton and you saw him start a game and look good, why wouldn't you consider him?

I'm not saying Gerrard is Brady but he does look pretty good. Obviously you don't trade a top 2nd round pick for someone's backup, that was dumb. But if you can pick someone up as a free agent or for a late round pick like 6 or 7 that you think has as much if not more potential than guys you are looking to draft in that round then go for it.

I really like Gerrard and would be real interested in getting him as a free agent or a low round pick.

Just looked up Garrard's contract. He's signed through 2008. Did he just sign an extension or did Jacksonville really sign their 4th round pick in 2002 to a 7 year deal? A 7 year deal seems pretty long for a 4th rounder, doesn't it?

He's a young player to see, but i fell he must show something else.

A 26/35, 250 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, what a good game versus Indy but even this kid tried hard, they lose

But wait, Gus' 14/22, 229 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, in SD winning is over those stat.

're on our way

David Gerrard....Backup QB for the Jaguars......i want him.

discuss
ME TOO. HE'S GREAT. He had a chance to go to Detroit ( I think) but didn't want to leave the Jags, WE should have such a backup....Think he's as good as Leftwich. Just my opinon

Garrard played well. I would like to have him on the team he is still young remember and will only get better. I say we try getting him There were talks earlier about Ricky going to the Jags so Im sure we could work something out. Ok lets say Garrard sint starting material hell we still would have a great reliable back up that we could use or another team. We could atlest get a 2nd round pick for him. if Cutlers not availible in the Draft i say we get garrard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we can garrrrrarrrarrrarrrdddd!!!!! like pirates!!!!!! and it would help the team out at the same time.
