It says here that in week 9 Martin was surprassing Bubba Franks as their Tight End..

I found it interesting when Cameron talked about him a couple days ago.. He implied that MArtin has the special talent to find open spaces and he felt really good about his instincts as a TE.. He said alot of the times this is an underrated Quality when people look for a TE.. I will defer to Cameron's Offensive expertise in this regard..

They say that in Green Bay, he would have been the better tight end than Franks if it wasn't for the injury bug.

Here's Cameron's Quote-

Dolphins coach Cam Cameron expounded on why he likes new TE David Martin during the team's recent minicamp. "He's very bright, and that is critical at that position the way we use tight ends"; Cameron said. "The more things you can do with them, the better opportunity you have to create matchups when a matchup in your favor presents itself. The ability to move him around, smart, he is a good on-the-line blocker.

He is also a very good second-level blocker. When I say second-level, without sounding like I am lecturing here, off the ball some guys have a knack for being able to weave through traffic and run routes and block and some guys don't. Some guys, they just run into people. He is just one of those guys I sense has a real feel for the game and I think that is critical at that position --Cam Cameron

Well its no secret that Green bay was not real happy with any of thier Te's last year and if the right guy was there in the right round they would have tried to upgrade the position. they did draft the TE Harris out of Rutgers, who may be a slight sleeper and also long snaps. Franks is not the TE he once was but they made no effort to keep Martin so not sure they found him so special especially after 7 seasons.

If he can go a whole season without getting injured then maybe. McMichael was one the most consistent TE's regarding playing games. Martin MAYBE a btter receiving TE but whats the use of of TE who only plays half a season? I'll believe it when i see it.

David Martin would have surpassed Bubba Franks for the starting job several years ago, if he could have just stayed healthy. but that IF always got the better of him. IF he stays healthy for us, then he could be very good for us. again...IF

That is the concern - his health. IF he was going to surpass Franks then that speaks highly that when healthy he may have arrived and not a project.

But, I was actually disappointed that in mid rounds we did not draft a TE and did not like the Cards getting Patrick out of DE. Looks like Cam has a lot of confidence in this guy and that especially considering the other holes on Offense it was apparently felt we can do without a TE in the draft. Still would be better if we had one more option at TE.

yea i havent even been worried about our TE since we got him. I think he will be a solid TE like Troy Draton was for us.

Health concerns would be one reason they would not keep him. IF he has arrived like Cam feels he has then why did in fact the Pack did not take the other risk/reward option by trying to keep him? Honest question to contemplate. One man's junk is not necessarily another one's treasure - or is it with the case of Martin? I will be watching him in Preseason with a close eye and look forward to reading any news on him in camp.

Martin has only managed to complete one 16 game season in his entire career, and that was in a secondary tight end role. It just isn't realistic, based on Martin's seven years in the league, to expect him to stay healthy. He may be a talented receiver, but we should have had a backup plan whose name isn't justin peele.

Yeah cause Ted Thompson is just a genius right??? Why did Jim Bates leave after he resurrected the defense up there? Got to love their decision making. Thompson wouldn't give up a fourth rounder or say a 5th or 6th and a 7th to the Raiders for Moss...in their last best chance to make it to the dance with Favre in a WEAK NFC. He blew it when the picked Aaron Rodgers in the first. They still haven't given Favre any targets and now the have no running back. If for no other reason why pay first round money for a QB to sit the bench for 4 years? STUPID!!! the guy hasnt gotten the chance to develop - they still won't know what they have and hell be ready for free agency.

Yeah - I'm worried about Martin - cause Ted Thompson KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING! give me a break
