I think this guy deserves another thread.

I won't lie, when i heard he signed with us in the off season, i had never heard of him. I'm not a big college junkie, so to me he was just another UDFA. There was a ton of hype around him but i try not to buy into this because it seems as though we hype up every player we draft or sign. (See Rod Wright)

That being said, this guy is going to be a fantastic WR. Check out his stats since becoming the starter:

12 NE L 28-48 5|87|17.4|36
13 @ STL W 16-12 6|84|14.0|37
14 @ BUF W 16-3 9|74|8.2|15

In 3 games, he has 20 receptions for 245 yards. That projects to over 1300 yards in a season.

I still disagree with him being the starter on PR mainly because he doesn't have the breakaway speed necessary to break one, however his route running is better than anyone we've had since Welker. The guy is technically sound. Sooner or later, you will notice teams game planning for this guy.

I'm not going to lie I was 100% on the bandwagon even before the draft. I watch a great deal of college football and thought Bess had all the tangibles to be a great receiver in the NFL. He was one of the guys I was looking for Miami to go after.

I didn't pay a great deal to the draft other then what Miami did so I just assumed Bess got drafted. Before I could even look where he went I saw on the boards that we picked him up. And wow what a GEM this kids going to be. Couldn't be more pleased with how well he's playing. I'm not sure how much he's making right now but I think a contract extension as well as a little raise would do some justice.

We were all bashing the Ginn/Camarillo/Hagan tandem before the season but right now I feel pretty damn good with the Ginn/Camarillo/Bess tandem. Also, London seems like he's a kid who works hard and could really start making a name for himself.

All hail the Miami Dolphins!!!

Does anyone know why he wasn't drafted? Did GMs just assume he was a product of the system they run in Hawaii? Cause the guy is more polished than any receiver on our roster today. I'm always amazed when guys like Bess slip through the cracks.

I agree with you that his skill set is better utilized as a WR and not a PR. You don't have to be the fastest guy to be an effective WR. Look at Jerry Rice, while he was not slow he was not the fastest guy in the world. His route running and attention to detail separated him from the pack. It is pretty apparent that Davone excels in his route running.

Going into the combine he was hurt and it really affected his 40 time. We had targeted him in the 7th rd., but as the draft came to an end the coaching staff took a chance they could get him as a FA.

Another young player stepping up!!:woot:
With this play from Bess, I guess WR is no longer a liability. Its amazing how the two receivers that "barely" made the team at the beginning of the season are now the best receivers on the team. Ginn / Bess / Camarillo. I like that triple threat! :woot:

This guy is Excellent! He is smart, quick and athletic. Did you see how when he had the ball everytime he would switch the ball to the outside hand when he was running. He's a rookie and he does this naturally like a vet. I don't even see that with some vet's. Just an example of how good this guy will be for us!

great to see him produce like that.. he is a diamond in the making and i hope that we can sign him for longer.. veery underrated in this league

I'm not going to lie. Every season we get excited about an unknown WR and they usually never pan out. I figured Bess was the guy this year. I'm happy to admit I was wrong, this kid looks like the real deal.

He signed an "undisclosed contract". I assume it's a one or two year deal, I expect an extension sooner or later
