Maybe I'm crazy but I honestly think our DB's are being coached to hold. It's not just Maxwell that's doing it, THEY ARE ALL doing it. And i'm not sure I disagree with it. Was anyone like me watching the game? At first I was pissed at the DB's for holding but as the game wore on, I found that I was getting pissed at the refs for calling them. It was weird. :-\

When you think about it.... It puts a LOT of pressure on the refs to make those calls after they've called so many in a game, and I'm pretty sure that if they called as many as as they did, there were several others that they either didn't see or didn't call because they were influenced by the amount that they've already called.

I know sometimes it's tough to watch and as fans we get frustrated but I'd rather be called for a 10 yard penalty, then to give up chunk yardage plays or TD's because we didn't hold. It's like our DB coach told us in highschool, if you're beat.... hold him or commit the pass interference. Because 1. the ref just might miss it, and 2. I'd rather the penalty than the TD.

There's some negatives to this strategy but I must honestly say that the last several weeks we've been a lot better overall defensively.

Your thoughts?

Dolphins HC Adam Gase said the DBs need to "trust their technique" in terms of avoiding holding and pass interference calls.

And I agree with him, but seems like their technique has them out of position a lot which forces them to get grabby, so i'm wondering if the DB coaches are telling hey.... if its a choice between being beating or holding.... go ahead and hold. IDK Just a thought because it seems like they're all doing it.

If you watch college football you see players do a lot of grabbing even when they don't have to. Unfortunately when they get to the pros, they continued to use those "techniques" they got away with in college. One of the problems in the NFL is, once you get a reputation for holding it stays with you. That is one of the reasons Brandon Marshall talked about Maxwell the way he did two weeks ago.
