Oscar is going to fight a tuneup in May (HBO), then Mayweather in September. Floyd Mayweather Sr. returns to Oscar's corner for both fights.

This is exactly what boxing needs. Not a real super bout like Mayweather-Cotto. No, boxing needs a rematch of a non-competitive fight with a past-prime challenger.

This tuneup will be the first time since DLH-Quartey in '99 that I root against Oscar. I don't want the fight to happen.

I see what you're saying, but Boxing DOES need this fight. This fight is a BIG draw. This fight draws up more interest than any fight has in many many years. Mayweather is a great fighter, and Oscar is past his prime, but it's turned into somewhat of a rivalry and it's something people want to see.

hmmm De La Hoya warm up fight is at the Home Depot Center. I think I'll go. Does anyone know where the De La Hoya vs. Floyd fight will be? I think they were talking about Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

don't want to see it either but there's too much money involved for it not to happen. 24/7 will hype up the floyd sr. angle and it will still do huge numbers. hopefully steve forbes can ruin all of this.

cotto just has to keep winning. floyd can't duck him forever.

I think we have to look at it all the way thru.

Yeah, it might be a big draw. But if the fight is a letdown (again), it could do more harm than good.

Just seems like a huge waste of time. It'll be another shutout. Only this time, like that one article said, the boxing fans won't be watching. Unfortunately, half is still a ton of money.

*Yawn*

I'll watch it if HBO refunds the $65 I blew on ordering the fight last time. Otherwise, forget it.

I suspect many others are thinking just like you. I will watch it if one of my friends gets it, but really glorified sparring is overrated.

Like LightsOut lets just hope Cotto keeps winning so more and more pressure is put on Floyd. It may not be the biggest fight out there, but I am sure the fight most true boxing fans would like to see.
