Trading up to #2 for RGIII is one thing, but at this cost?

2012 #6 overall pick
2012 #39 overall pick
2013 1st round pick
2014 1st round pick.

Amazing, unbelieveable and stupid. RGIII has some exceptional qualities to him, but overall I don't think that he was as good as the over hype would sugeest. That was an Andrew Luck type ransom that the Redskins paid- they would have been better off drafting Brandon Weeden in the 2nd rd. Dan Snyder strikes again...

Good fro us, there's a better chance now that we get brandon Weeden in the 2nd round, which would be an absolute bargain. If we can getting Peyton get Manning- awesome. Manning plays for a few years and then Weeden steps in for the next five or six. And even if we don't get Weeden, we still have matt Moore, who played pretty damned well wit a subpar supporting cast. Kudos to Stephen Ross for not pulling off such a desperate sucker trade.

but if we traded up for RG3 at the same cost as the redskins and won the superbowl, are we fools too.
We will find out in a few years if it worked out for them, good luck too them for having the ball's to make that trade.............

They may have had the balls, but they lack the brains.

Yes, we would have been fools. Elite QBs are rare and worth a LOT.....most teams settle for just good. Even then, half the QBs drafted that high fail to amount to anything. For what they have up to get Griffin, they are going to have trouble surrounding him with talent without a 2nd round pick this year and 1st round picks the next 2 years.....and a current team loaded with holes.

The best teams are built through the draft.

I don't know. If I'm a Redskins fan I feel much better about my team with that trade. Yes, it's a lot to give up but I think the last 10 or so super bowls have cemented the fact that you can't win it all without a franchise quarterback. Now if Robert Griffin III doesn't make it then a lot of people lose their jobs in Washington. I don't think that will be the case. My only concern with Griffin is that his running style could lead to injuries. Once in the open field, he runs like a running back looking for extra yards. Mike Shanahan will have to teach him to get down and avoid hits. Otherwise, the sky is the limit with this kid and if Miami had made that trade I'd probably be pretty giddy right now just waiting for the season to start.

And if the colts take RG3 with the 1st pick.....just saying. 99% chance of it not happening, but what if....

Unless Griffin busts hard, it was a good trade. No price is too steep for a franchise QB, IMO.

They are fools cus they didnt have to do the trade. cleveland was not really interested. They could have negotiated. It smells of desperation. Then the 36 million hit to cap. yikes. they are in doo doo land for a while. good luck RG3. Love ya!

Haven't we pretty much been in "doo doo land" for 15 years?? We haven't drafted a QB in the first round in 28 years. This in a league where QB is the single most important variable in winning consistently. We had no problem dropping $58m with 30 guaranteed on a Left Tackle which has about 1/10th the effect on a game as a QB.

Personally I wish for once we put someone in the front office with the sack to do what the Redskins did. The Skins go into 2012 with RG3 and immediately signed Garcon and Josh Morgan to help him. They have hope for the future. Our angle....we go into next year with Matt Moore or an overpaid Matt Flynn and trade our only WR threat for a bag of Doritos.

Don't worry. We'll figure out how to win 6 games so we can fall outside the top 4 QB's drafted next year.

Giving up next years first, the following seasons first and a 2nd for a shot at a franchise QB? That is not overpaying... They just think he has "IT" and if they are right that is a steal for him. The first this year is a swap...

I think they did well with the trade.

If he is a bust... ouch.

But if he is a Top 15 QB for the next 10 years then they did good.

If he is one of the next great young QB's they did an awesome job.

We will find out in a few years. But one thing for sure... They are hell bent on finding the QB!!!

Miami will continue to overpay other teams back-up QB's. I was hoping that the curse of no Marino would be over this year. It was the 13th year since he retired and I really thought we would land either Luck, RG3 or Manning.

I like what I see in Moore and just hope he gets a fair shot over Flynn, if Miami signs Flynn.
