The Dolphins reportedly plan to wait until after the NFL Draft to decide whether to pursue free agent Jason Taylor.
If they land an outside linebacker in the early rounds, then Taylor won't be needed. It's also quite possible that Taylor will decide to accept another offer before the end of the month.

I have to agree with The Trifecta, Taylor is about to be 35 and signing him would hinder us from drafting an OLB, which this draft has some real good ones. I love JT and welcome him, but truth is JT is up in age and would be a stop gap. I like the potential of Roth and Wake and would love a rookie LB like Clint Sintim, Cody Brown, Connin Barwin or Clay Matthews.

makes sense to me
the only thing shocking is that the Trifecta would say that much about a possible transaction
suppose they feel obligated to the fans given Jason is such a favorite

Well, if Taylor signs with the Cheatriots I do not want them
to make the superbowl. I hate them with a passion! They are pre-season favorites to win the bowl. Unreal! I want Brady on his arse. The guy wants a ring and might sign with Pats. Zach Thomas needs to talk some sense in Jason. Geez. And Kraft and Belicheat will sign him.

If he ends up going to the Patsies, I have no problem wishing injury upon him. If he goes to a team outside the division, then good luck JT, I wish you the best....

I honestly believe that Miami is not real interested in signing him. I also believe Taylor has no real interest in signing with the Dolphins.

I honestly believe him saying he would "love" to sign with the Dolphins is his way of playing damage control amongst the Dolphins fans for when he signs with New England. If he just went to New England without mentioning a Miami return, he looks like a bad guy in the eyes of the team that was his home for 11 years.

By saying what he is saying, he knows Miami isn't going to sign him, but he can play innocent after signing with the Patriots by saying "I wanted to go to Miami, but they didn't want me. The Patriots came after me but I gave Miami first shot at me." For those Miami fans that believe him will love JT but turn against the front office. That is what Jason Taylor wants.

He doesn't want to play for the Dolphins, but he doesn't want Dolphin fans upset with him after he signs with New England.

makes sense to me. Good post

In other words they will only pick him up if they are unable to fill a the void at OLB, in other words he's not coming back, in other words thank god. Forward march.

I like how you gave us a conclusion at the end of your statement. :)
I have to agree with this statement. I would love to see Jason in aqua again, but why would the front office let an aging player, Vonnie Holliday, go and sign an injured aging player. He may be 100 percent by the time camp shows up but I feel Holliday could have produced the same results for us at a position of need. We have a lot of young talent at OLB. I know VH was a DE in the 3-4 but it does't make sense to bring in old talent when we have a youth movement.

who cares if he signs with the patriots ? vernon carey practiced against the guy and he's ready to face him. Jake long, on his part, is simply too wide and powerful for taylor. If he signs with the patriots, i'll be mad, but i don't see it as a problem for us whatsoever

I don't mind giving JT a shot. You don't have to give up anything to get him and if he can't beat out Wake then he is washed up and/or maybe Wake is pretty decent. JT could fill a void for a couple of years and they could address the position in the draft then. It would be one less problem on defense to have to address. Go for an inside backer or a corner if you think one of these is worth a 1st round pick. Somebody like Matthews might be able to play inside. I know they are rebuilding but enough of this for the future stuff. These are the AFC East Champions we are talking about let's see how far they can get this year.

i have to disagree. miami and jason are in no hurry to get a deal in place till after the draft. i wouldn't be surprised if they have a verbal deal in place for after the draft. the sooner jason signs the sooner he will be expected to participate in off season workouts. everybody needs to relax. the deal will get done after the draft.

I heard a rumor that Chicago might be interested in him.

Really, so you think that Taylor is comfortable being unemployed? I would think Taylor is anxious to be signed. You make it sound as though you know something the rest of us dont. I personally could careless where the guy signs. As long as if he signs with us it is a good signing for us, thats my only criteria.

I think Nub's speculation is plausable and may very likely have merit. JT could be exercising PR damage control in Miami if he is planning on going to NE. It is no secret that he likes that crew up there.
