can someone find out why we dont throw the ball deep with C pep but we do with joey? thats how preseason was and even the regular season. I wonder what the real deal is that no one is talking about and trying to cover up.
 
That further solidifies my perception that the reason we never went deep was because of DAUNTE's indecision.. They have been called, but Daunte just chooses the dump off instead.
 
what are you talking about? Daunte has taken 1-2 deep shots a game, he just has never connected on them. (well he did once, with Booker).

Harrington only had 3.

also you need to realize, every pass play usually has at least ONE WR go downfield... Joey just chose to throw it deep.

Culpepper is too afraid to go downfield - you see him throw dumps out to the flat too much to Ronnie Brown. Harrington was more willing to throw to RECEIVERS down the field.

there is no bias in the playcalling.

then sucks to be us b/c our frnachise qb has confident issues.
 
He may have confidence issues. However, those issues are somewhat justified. Deep pass plays take a few seconds to develop. More often than not, Culpepper hasnt had those few seconds. Most of the time the receivers were barely clearing the line of scrimmage when Culpepper was forced to throw (or get sacked).
 
Where are all these deep ball that you guys claimed Harrington threw? We try one to booker and a holding call happens of course and we throw one to Chambers that was overthrown? Where are all the deep throws?

It wasnt overthrown.. Chambers slipped on his way to the ball..
 
I have already gone over this dozens of times. Culpepper just doesn't throw deep, there is this perception that he is a deep thrower. But he takes dump off passes all day long. It is not that we aren't going deep with Culpepper he just chooses not to and dumps it off for a 6 yard gain on 3rd and 9.
