So I often refer to the fact I live in Philly and I wanted to share with yas the pulse of another fan base and how "under the radar" we still are. I was listening to our local sports radio show yesterday and they brought up the 2012 QB class and where they stand now. Obviously they're big on Foles up here and are excited hes blossoming into a potential franchise QB. They proceeded to give their opinions of the class and ranked them accordingly. One of em ranked em: 1) Wilson 2)Luck 3)RG3 and said coin flip for Foles and Tanny but said he'd give the nod to Foles because Tannehill is "getting lucky down in Miami" and said he's not buying into him or the team. I immediately took to Twitter last night and asked him to explain how he came to that conclusion. He brought up the underthrown deep balls that should be picked more often than not and that he's lucky the defense wins him the majority of the games. I linked him the highlights of the New England game and asked him to pick out just 1 "lucky" throw he made in there and also reminded him of what RT did this year against Luck and Indy and against Wilson and Seattle last year. We went back and forth a little more but bottom line he ended it with he's not sold on Tannehill as a premier QB. Today, the show brought it up again and he mentioned our Twitter banter last night and said I was "showing my true colors". Then brings up the Carolina game and Buffalo game and how we're not gonna do anything So I decided to give em a ring and continue the conversation.
The point I tried to make was that it's extremely premature to rank the class as it stands because a few of the teams are still finding themselves. And the simple fact that these guys are SECOND YEAR PLAYERS! But I also wanted to show everyone just how blinded they are but what they've seen on ESPN and how mainstream the majority of NFL fans really are. Instead of actually watching the way these players develop they automatically assume that RT is inferior to Luck and RG3 because of the hype alone and not on field performance.
I also wanted to show you guys what I deal with up here lol. You might not believe it but these guys are a solid duo with a ton of well rounded knowledge of sports, they also have to deal with a brutally harsh fan base that loves their Philly teams so as a result they have no choice but to be a tad bit biased. We are all biased to our team in the end though.
It may takes a few minutes to queue up but if ya fast forward to 1:28:40 he mentions the Twitter encounter then proceeds to give his ranks. Fast forward to 1:40:40 for my call(Frank from Bensalem). They also drop a mean Jay Fiedler reference . Did I deliver on some points or not?
