well i guess 461 yards of total offense against the best defense across the board and the best running game in the NFL. quarterback play wins championships period. its the single most important position on the field, ans if u have a great one your chances of winning increase dramatically IN SPITE of deficiencies at some other positions. running games and great defense are certainly a decent formula, but more so because emphasis has been placed on this in the past by prevailing "wisdom". This myth is going away. but some of us can hold on tight to ur long held beliefs and defend them till the end while we get run over by great passing games like the saints and colts did to us this year despite games we dominated for much of the game. look no further than todays jets-colts game

You may have a point with the colts-jets game.

but with the vikes-saints it was stictly turn overs. had nothin to do with breeze, plus favre has played great all year...that was turn overs.. D still wins championships.

This is a QB driven league, but don't overlook the fact that both the Saints' and Colts' defenses came up big in their respective games. The Saints O struggles in the second half, but 5 forced turnovers was the key to getting a W.

The Colts gave up some big plays in the first half on some trick plays by the Jest (btw, f*** you Rex Ryan and your "gimmick" sh*t). The Jest scored ZERO points in the second half and that vaunted rushing attack was held to 86 yards. So in fact, defense does win championships. Like I said before, it doesn't matter who's D had the best stats in the regular season, it's all about who's defense plays the best in the postseason and right now I'd have to give the nod to the Colts D. I forsee another Super Bowl ring for Peyton and Co.

That's the exact reason the Colts won: their D did allow zero points in the second half. Of course, great QB play helps and wins you a game from time to time but if your defense doesn't show up you're not going to the big game. That's why the Jest go home: their D didn't show up in the second half and the Colts' D did.
