I also think with age comes wisdom, but we could use a couple of younger starters. That's why we have to be smart during the draft and make good decisions, and not give away picks. But if you look at the stats, the older teams seem to be the better teams.

I don't doubt that we were the oldest are at least towards the top of the list but you also have to look at the non-starters. We have a lot of young guys who have just not had the oportunity to step in. Also some of the older guys, such as Carter (34), and Zgonina (37) aren't here anymore and there is a good chance that Wilkinson (34) won't be either.

Did you include Carter and Wilikinson?? Caue I know Carter is no longer a Dolphin and I can't see Wilikinson returning. Beisdes that what does last years D have to do with anything, we won't have the same Defense this year.Nonetheless we still had the 4th best defense in the league....I guess age of a team is overrated!

Well Roth (24) may be starting DE, Evans (23) at DT and Porter is about a year younger than Spragan so we are already getting younger.

I'm just stating that not to say its bad becuse our defense is awsome, but we will need to get some youth STARTERS. i know it is last years Depth chart cuz we dont know this years yet. im just making a point that we need to get some youth in the starting line-up. we are the oldest by far. but our older guys are some of the best players in the league.

Yeah, but I think as far as drafting, Miami will probably target the offense with qb, ol, maybe WR, and maybe a safety as one of the defense. But, I think we are goung to see some young player get into the starting role. Atleast we have some intruging talent, and it's not like it's not on the team it's just a matter of them now inching there way into th lineup. It seems like Matt Roth will be starting or have a significant amount of playing time this season and Fred Evans getting some time or spelling for Fred Taylor. Then we have to see with Rodrique Wright who has some talent and might be in this fold as well. Manny Wright also has some potential, but we just got to see if this guy is disciplined this season and will actually get himself in shape before counting on him, but there is a bunch of youth with talent. These guys eventually making their way into the starting lineup will drop the avergae defenses age significantly.

I'm just a little confused, cause you know Carter and Wilikinson are no longer in the plans, they both were in their late 30's those two subtractions alone should lower the avg. age, not to mention the youth that will be injected through the draft. So doesn't that kinda answer the question about getting younger.

I really don't worry about it... we had some very good vets who had not yet been displaced by youth. That has begun. The only old guys now are JT ZT and Vonnie.. and two of three replacments are here already. Last year when the talking heads started their we are old rant I just blew them off as being uninformed.

that is why i was going with last years. you cant predict who we will draft and who will start so i was using last years. you cant calculate this years cuz we dont know who is on our team so i use last years. This is just FYI from last years D. Wilikinson wasnt the starter last year so he wasnt in the calculations, traylor was.

i agree 100%. i think we neeeeeeed to work mainly on offense in the draft. maybe be some secondary and THEN youth in the team.

Actually, what was used in the calculation? Wilkinson wasn't a starter last year, Traylor was. And Traylor is still with us (and he's ancient). :D
