It's painfully obvious that we need most of our draft picks spent on defense. We also had better find some of the top free agents for our defense. We gave up the most yardage in Dolphins history this season. That is disgusting.

I don't care if they draft defense or offense as long as they hit on several picks. If a great offensive option is available you don't pass on it to draft a good defensive one. Take the superior players and then use your free agency and offseason to to fill the gaps.

Superior player, superior player and more superior player. Always take talent over need. Now if the talent level is equal sure go with need, but other wise don't let need drive your draft room.

If Tannenbaum is still with us, he better not be making stupid decisions. I would rather see Grier calling the shots with talent acquisition.

I agree, but it's a better draft for D, so this shouldn't come into play.

The Patriots always seem to be one step ahead of the curve. It's become more obvious that a pass rush alone won't help against a quick, short passing game. How often did Tom Brady actually take more than three seconds to throw a pass in the season finale against Miami? It's all about getting the ball out quickly to fast receivers who can make yards after the catch. A three yard pass becomes an eight yard gain.

That's not to say Miami doesn't need to improve the pass rush, but I'd focus on linebackers who can tackle. I'd also look to add a top flight safety and maybe go to a 4-2-5 defense with three safeties.

Obviously it's not just about beating the Patriots, but the blueprint for attacking Miami's offense is so basic. Run the ball, quick short passes and some big chunks plays now and then in the middle of the field.

ILB, DT, OLB, OG, S in that order.

Easy picking when the VJ defense plays 10 yards off the ball.
This team needs to adopt a man to man - LOS defense. NO more easy completions.

We need to resign Stills. Do that and there is no need to pick a WR in the draft or FA. No need to pick a QB or a RB. Any offensive pick should be O-line or TE (maybe - don't need all pros at every position).

Most focus should be on LBs (plural), a young defensive end, and another young DB.

Team doesn't have as many holes to fill going into next year. The Kiko/Maxwell trade was a home run. I hope T-Baum doesn't try to pull something like that off again because we got lucky there. Just use the picks we have and be smart in FA to fill the holes and continue to build depth.

PS
A big-leg FG kicker would be nice.

How about find a few players on defense who know how to hit a ball carrier with some thump. We have too many soft players on defense. Look at how hard the Pats were hitting us today. You never saw our players doing that. We're too damn finesse.

I am damn sick and tired of watching our guys get the snot knocked out of them while we watch an opposing ball carrier plowing through 3 or 4 of our players when we can't tackle at all.

Agree. This defense still has Philbin taint. The DB's give too much cushion at the LOS. The ball carrier gets 5 yards before contact.
This is NOT Miami Football!

We need to pick a the best player available. As much as our defense needs players, you cannot afford to go away from your rating of a player and reach for need.

Actually, I would argue the OL is fixed. We need to keep investing until the OL excels.

A lot of this depends on whether Bushrod retires, and Pouncey's long term health though. I personally think we need to draft a center, but that can wait til the mid rounds. Ideally a candidate who projects to guard in the NFL as well, giving us better depth. Not a knock on Urbik, but it would be nice to have a long term option if Pouncey is indeed facing an uphill battle with his hips.
