The Dolphins D is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. For one, Lance Schulters was not playing at Safety {hes a great cover and run stopper/ hard hitter}, Tebucky Jones was hurt and will produce because he has something to prove { not as great as coverage but great at run stopping and hard hitting}. Sam isn't bad but his age is getting to him. Travis Daniels is a good CB with high potential to be a great CB, hes still a rookie though and dont forget, Will Poole had gotten beat downfield alot last year. Reggie Howard is the only MAJOR concern, im not too comfortable with him, but hey who knows maybe he will get better as time goes on, and maybe get off his NO PAYCUT horse. Kevin Carter is a great DE and is still going to produce good #'s but we should sub in and out Roth with Carter and Taylor but Taylor would be switched to LB for some plays [like in the 3-4 set]. Our LB's are still good and could be even better with the coming of Spragan, Crowder, and the progression of Pope. Our DT are still great, Zgonina/ Chester/ Traylor {THE WALL}/ Vickerson/ Holliday. The only negative could be 1 or 2 Secondary players but it will get better. As for offense, No Comment.......... :goodnight: JOIN THE WE WANT RONNIE IN CAMP NOW CLUB, PUT THIS IN YOUR SIG TO JOIN

Our defense did not play well in that game. But that is probably due to the learning curve of the new system.

Talent wise we have one of the best Ds in the NFL. I mean, we were known to have one of the top defenses last year and this year the major difference is we got deeper and better at linebacker. We improved at saftey (I thought Knight played like a bum). Plus we improved our d-line.

Downside is the vets aged one year and we lost Surtain. But I think the additions outweigh this or at least equal this. Our defense will be fine this year. Another year or two then that might change but as of right now they are solid.

i agree to a point. schulters should be solid. sam is getting older. i think trade next off season for a pick or 2. travis has alot of potential. i think draft safety and corner next year. linebackers zach is still good, but size hurts him. crowder could be animal. i think we must draft 2 next year. line is solid roth needs to learn some moves but when he does. look out! i like vickerson chicago was double teaming him. thats a good sign. the others are getting old and chester is a tub. j.t. well j.t. will be j.t. for a while longer. we can survive a little while longer before we need to ***** the line.

overall good d once they learn the schemes. however must have influx of youth in secondary and linebacker corps.

next offseason draft qb to study for a year. draft safety and corner. everything else pick linebacker. sorry for the crystal ball.

just my humble opinion

Our defense needs to stop the run until they prove they can do that, they aren't very good, they sucked last year I don't care what anyone says, ranking 30 something against the run is not exceptable, we did pick up some good players and our run defense could get better, but it didn't show it monday night, until they can stop the run, they are not very good....

I'm holding off on my opinion until, at least, the end of the preaseason. First, I don't think that Saban will show everything that's up his sleeve in the preseason, and second, the learning curve is quite large on a complicated defense like this. Our veterans are coming from a defensive scheme that was very basic, so there will be adjustments that need to be made. We'll see how it goes, it has a lot of potential both ways.

At this point, our defense has a LOT to prove.

As mentioned, last year they couldn't stop the run. This year, it will be a variety of everything. The only dominating factor is Jason Taylor--who will possibly be negated due to constant double and triple blocking him.

I'm sure that we will have a sprinkle of players who make plays every now and then, but I don't see anyone (outside of JT) who will give us a constant threat. In other words, this defense will have to forge a new identity under Saban before it again is considered a threat.

on paper and on the field (the preseaon game i saw on TV), show the fins to have a good run D, but a poor Passing D.

and it will stay that way untill they show other wise.

I say the heck with Tebuckey Jones, lets put Bell in and see what he can do. I want to see some speed in the seconday and Bell is the only one that has that. Without at least one guy with speed, even guys like Fiedler will be able to have some success.

The probglem is still the Db's. Im not too concerned with the run D, but If we dont generate a decent pass rush....
