Miami has a lot of work to do with the draft, extend contracts & free agents.
Defense: Free Safety Upgrade Required
The secondary has been killing us all year long.
(Compete For Starting Position / Nickel) W. Allen's injury hurt b/c it meant that Dime/Back-ups had to play more during the game. That is never a good thing, while they did make some plays, they could not make enough each game to make an impact. (It would be nice to have him back next year & still draft another corner.)
(Cut/Move To SS) G. Wilson is a Safety playing FS. I think he needs to back-up and push Y. Bell for the starting position. I thought it would end up much better for Miami having both Wilson & Bell on the field at the same time. But that was not the case. (I would like for Miami to sure this position up with a High First Round Pick or Vet Player and move him to SS or cut him.)
(Starter) V. Davis has played like an All-Pro player at times this season. But he has had more than his share of bad plays. (If he can put it all together over the next couple of seasons, Miami will have at least a TOP 20 corner)
(Starter) S. Smith does not have great speed and a bit slow covering quick WR's on his cuts. But overall he does cover the WR very well and QB's are seeing better options vs. the rest of the secondary. Miami is really lucky to get both V. Davis & S. Smith in one draft. He has a ton of upside at this point and should only get better. (This tandem could end up being another P. Surtain / S. Madison. They both have the skills sets to take advantage of certain types of WR's.)
(Starter) Y. Bell is a solid starter for Miami and has great speed to the ball. He hits hard and finds himself around the ball for most part throughout the entire game. He is getting some age on him, but is still a better player than G. Wilson at the SS position for Miami. (Right now Miami has good depth at the SS position, even if they cut G. Wilson.)
At this point Miami is in major need of a starting FS that can defend the pass. While the need for Nickel & Dime packages are important upgrades as well. Miami has enough talent to help them when faced with limited opportunities.

Defense: MLB & OLB Upgrade Required
Miami has some real talent at the OLB position overall. But age is a major concern & the back-up talent level is not very good at all. The MLB position has to find a new starter beside of C. Crowder, if they keep him.
(Starter) C. Crowder loves to make silly comments to the media that makes you question how smart he really is, but he is better than any other current Miami MLB. When he does not play the run is an open door for the most part. (I think Miami should keep him around & use a 1st-3rd round pick on a shot at a better MLB than Crowder.)
(Cut/Trade) J. Porter has some money coming his way before the start of the season, he ran his mouth and got benched a game for it, he has had injuries this season as well. The Pitt game could very well be his last game with Miami. (Perhaps the draft will yeild a solid starter for either the OLB or MLB position. Because right now it looks like Miami is going to lose one of their best LB's.)
(Starter) J. Taylor still has a motor and hungry for the win. I think he sticks around for another year with Miami. But Miami has to prepare now for both the OLB positions of the future. (The draft and free agents should find a new roster spot for up to 3 OLB's, this offseason.)
(Starter) C. Wake has to be the most held player in the NFL compared to the number of snap counts that he gets. His burst off the line is amazing and would be killing QB's on a good 4-3 line. However, Miami plays a 3-4 and they say his running skills have a long way to go. Well next season he will get a chance to sharpen those skills and sack the QB with a lot more reps.
Miami will be double dipping in the draft again this season, if there is no Beast of a S or NT or WR, Miami will be looking at filling this position on day one.

Defense: DL Looking Good For Miami.
Miami has done a solid job of finding some big bodies over the last 2 seasons. This DL does not have a huge playmaker but has very good depth and a rotation with some very good players. Miami might tink around a little bit with it, but for the most part they are good to go...
DL MVP: Randy Starks by a landslide.
Things look good and things look bad...lol. It depends on how you look at it for next season. But either way, Miami has some talent to build around on the defense.
Wish List...I hope we find a home of one of the following players:
1) E. Berry
2) T. Mays
...athough Spikes and Cody would be almost as good.
