I am not sure if Philbin "has his own guys" unless they are from Green Bay. He is very limited in terms of drifting around the league in that Green Bay is his only NFL stop. He is going to have break off from the GB connections to compile his staff.

It is not a bad idea to keep some of the previous staff or hire a former HC as an OC or DC...that fmr. coach would have connections that might suit Philbin.

Hey, maybe it is not bad that a coach actually interviews for an assistant coaching position and does not receive it based on a past connection. Imagine that?

I think mangini would make a good dc for this squad... I do not think "the ego of a former hc" would get into the way, I actually see mangini as a guy that would sit back and advise if asked but would watch the style of someone else to add to his ability to trasition back to the HC areana. Just my thought cause I dont see him having a hard personality, just watching him on tv you can see how laid back his style is, so I think that philbin and the def would benefit from that potential hire...
