defensive game plan a bust...

we let a qb with a 63 rating this season, and a 16 rating in his last game against the jets post a 103 rating, complet over 70% of his passes and not throw an int, which he did 3 times vs the jets.

wtf is saban's problem? did he not look at game film from the falcons v jets game? the jets played coverage d and confused vick into 42% completions with 0 tds and 3 ints. so what do we do today? we make it easy for vick by heavy blitzing and leaving our suspect DBs in single coverage. there's nothing to read vs this type of defense. it wasn't anything fancy. they were pretty much all cover 0 blitzes and all vick has to do is throw the hot read.

moose (daryl johnson) even commented at one point that we weren't disguising and we were showing our hand early in the play clock.

the falcons were 11-17 on 3rd down (we were 0-9) and this was because we continued to bring our ineffective blitzes that let vick escape or gave him and easy read against single coverage.

all everyone talked about how great saban's schemes were and how he was a defensive guru. by my count this is the 3rd game this season his scheme cost us the game.

i know, falcons only scored 17 pts. but like i said, 11-17 on 3rd down, 36 mins time of posession and drives of 71, 79, 92 and 91 yards. saban's defense got hammered today.

GET OUT OF YOUR 3-4 NICK IT ISN'T WORKING, AND QUIT BLITZING OUR SLOW LBS.
 
it isn't much of sabans fualt but our defense. something is up with it. we have like lost our attitude, some of the gambling players, the playmakers. we havent' had more then 2 int by one CB in the last 2 years. we dont have taht defense nemore. we need some new playesr on this team.

Some disappointing points about the defense, but still held a team averaging 25 points a game to 17 points. Even when being on the field so much, our defense kept us in the game and it was the poor offense play calling and execution that kept us from winning today.
 
I noticed our D played (for the most part) lights out on 1st and 2nd downs... but couldn't get the breaks on 3rd down.
 
Saban's going through his rookie growing pains. He wanted to take away the running game and Vick's scrambling ability and make him beat us through the air. Unfortunately he did. Holding the Falcs to a little more than 100 yds rushing is an accomplishment. It kept us in the game. If Saban stays a Dolphin coach long enough to face the Falcons with Michael Vick again I am sure he'll do what you proposed
 
CB is needed bad

Fins need a cover CB. Draft or trade for a real CB that can shut down the oppositions star WR's.:evil:
 
Vick was kind of on. The coverages were tight, the pressure was there. Vick just played a really good game.
 
with the defense, saban seems pretty stubborn (hopefully in a good way). he doesnt seem to want to make things easier for them.

they are going to play his way and if they dont execute the way he thinks they should, then its on them

Holding Vick and the falcons to 17 points is not a bust. They chose to let Vick pass so that he wouldn't run wild. The bottom line is the offense should have scored more than 17 points.
 
I'm still waiting to see these magical plays in the back of the playbook. remember after the first game, i think it was crowder who said"the playbook is like a phone book, we only got through the A's today" well obviously B-Z aint working so go back to just A. our D gave up alot and somehow only gave up 17. the falcons left alot of points on the field too. the third down problem is what is keeping this D from being top three in the league. on first and second down our D might be the best but 3rd down you can pretty much bank on something going wrong.
 
After that FG drive early 3rd quarter the defense shut them down and gave our offense one chance after the other to win this game and they failed.
