[h=3]10) Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami Dolphins[/h] By the numbers: 61.7 percent completion rate, 3,858 passing yards, 7.0 yards per attempt, 22 passing TDs, 12 INTs, 44 sacks taken, 87.1 passer rating in 15 games.
After making gains across the board in each of his first three NFL seasons, Tannehill plateaued in 2015. His numbers are OK, but I didn't see the improvement I was looking for; he hasn't taken that next step. I would have expected him to win more than five games with a team that is much better than its current record. He has the ability to play quarterback, but I wonder if he has the right instincts, or if the position comes naturally to him. In that way, he might be like Jay Cutler, another talented player who has yet to put it all together. Tannehill doesn't seem to be seeing things on the field like he should be.

Interesting how this will be discussed on the site here. I question his pocket instincts, and being able to roll out of the pocket and throw the ball away rather than taking the sack. I know that the O line and coaches haven't been his best friends, but he has got to improve in 2016. Thoughts?

That's the thing give him better protection and most importantly better coaching and everyone will see improvement.

Its almost laughable that they unclude Tannehill over Peyton Manning
in fact these qb's all had much worse years and are higher profile than Ryan . Andrew Luck and Joe Flacco

Yes Tannehill needs to improve in 2016 but so does the entire team from top to bottom.

The biggest disappointment is that Greg Hardy hasn't torn every ligament in his body.

Okay, please don't take this the wrong way, or any kind of comment on Tannehill being on that list (I'm fine with that), but no Andrew Luck up there?

My grade for him is an incomplete. Between the coaching mess, the line mess and the obvious issues in the locker room, I am not sure he had a chance this year.

Again, how do you upgrade from him?

Tannehill has to show good improvement in 2016 or I think we will have to move on.

He has all of the physical skills to do it, what he needs is good solid coaching and some team stability to get it back going. He had good growth years 1 thru 3, so here in year 4, I'm not ready to give up on him. But if we bring in a good coaching staff in 2016 and he doesn't progress, we need to find his replacement.

Luck or Manning have both been disappointing.

Edit: Manning is on the list....missed that.

I hear you bro but the question with Ryan has he plateaued or is there more growth and success that he can give this team?

I don't believe he has plateaued so 2016 will have to be his year or we have to move on. Coaches and system changes will either make or break Ryan Tannehill.

I am the biggest fan of Luck around -- check my post history -- but he was MUCH more disappointing than Ryan this year, even before he got hurt. Just saying.

BTW, this is 100% the reason I do not want Chuck Pagano as our next coach. He and Pep Hamilton did an atrocious job with that Colts team this year, even accounting for what a bad job their GM did the last 2 years.

This is a fair question but my answer remains the same as always: Quarterbacks keep getting better with age. Look at the best performing QBs in the NFL year in and year out, and look at their age. Look at how they performed over their career. Look at how even quarterbacks who aren't the best perform at various ages...

... Ryan's best is yet to come. He is gonna be our QB in 2016, at least. Let's give him a fair chance and hope Ross gets a hire right for once.

The best way for Ryan to succeed is to actually give him a fair shot to do so, something he has never been given.

Argue it as you may but I find it hilarious that people can point to Rodgers and make excuses for him on the offensive line and receiving corp but when you use the same excuses for Ryan you are an idiot.

if Aaron Rodgers can't overcome his offensive line then how the hell is Ryan suppose to at this point of his career? I mean Rodgers cost his team 21 points in the last game. Isn't he suppose to be one of the elite that can overcome anything?

I'm not impressed with Pagano at all. Aside from Luck over the past few years, his teams have been unimpressive in my opinion. You also right about Luck pre-injury. Not sure why, but he really regressed a bit this year. He was a turnover machine early.

Who would have thought 4 years in......the top performers in the year would be Wilson and Cousins from the class of 2012.

You know, I see this a lot about is there anymore growth in RT. We expect an lifelong QB to "get it" in year 3 or 4 of his NFL experience. Some do it quicker, but year 3 and 4 seem to be the magic time. However with RT, he isn't a lifelong QB, so I'm not sure why we all expect him to progress at the same rate as a more tenured QB would.

With that in mind, I'm hopeful there is more potential. We certainly see the physical skills are there. Lets give him a good teacher in 2016 and see how he does.

Additionally, Andy Dalton seemed to have it all "click" for him in year 5..........so I'm optimistic.
