With Philly landing Kiko Alonso from the Bills, I can't see them keeping DeMeco Ryans, who missed half a season last year and whose 2015 salary is $6.9m with no dead money. It depends on how Kiko is used and how his recovery from a second ACL has gone, but very likely Ryans will get cut at the contract level he has.

He's a productive 3-down ILB with tread still on the tyres. One of the league's better ILBs historically, decent but not a star. Anyone got a better perspective on him as a possible signing for us? He could be available relatively cheaply - $4.5m-5m maybe?

think he's too injury prone to depend on and i doubt he's interested in going anywhere as depth and specials player...like really doubt it

Never tire of comments pointing out how many threads there are about picking up other teams' garbage. =)

Just take a look at the alternatives, shall we?

1) Roll with Ellerbe
2) Roll with Misi
3) Try to find a guy in a draft to start from day 1, when this draft is very thin on Mikes.
4) Sink Dansby, Burnett, Ellerbe, Wheeler money into another overpriced MLB, who we end up cutting two years and huge dead money later.

The best solution if we don't draft a mike this year (and Dawson or Kendricks are the only guys with a snowball's chance of being good MLBs off the bat, imo), is to bring in a cheap but decent stopgap so we can solve it in a better year for mikes - a la Finnegan, Delmas etc...

Its not a good situation which most of have been saying for a while. I don't see any real answers for this year unfortunately.

Exactly, so stick a good warm body in there for a year or two and address other areas where there are talented players at good value. Btw, Ryans is no scrub and he's missed few enough games before last season. 16-game a year starter for 7 of his 9 seasons. That's hardly a cripple.

2013 - 127 tackles, 4 sacks, 7 deflected passes, 2 INTs

Although DeMeco Ryans is due nearly $7 million coming off Achilles surgery, @RapSheet expects him to stay with Eagles this season.

I'm not ready to shoot the OP down on this one. Would be one of those gambles, if he stays healthy he might be a decent stop gap for a year and with some luck we might find somebody better next year. With the bad luck we have had with injury type players like Delmas and Finnegan, etc I can see the skepticism, but maybe worth a look at least if available.

Personally don't think there's a lot of tread left on those tires... I'm pretty sure we're going to see Mason Foster in the middle next year, which I'm not pumped on...

I think Maualuga will have a pretty good market...Bengals seem to want him back, Raiders need a MIKE and he went to USC, Bears need a 3-4 ILB. Worked under Zimmer so Vikings would make sense since they have a hole there.

David Harris to the Bills makes too much sense not to happen.

Nate Irving is a 2 down guy...and again the Bears make sense there.

Brandon Spikes is looking like the most realistic option depending on his market. If he came on a short-term like 3/12M I'd consider it. We really do need a stop gap in the middle.

I'm also pretty comfortable leaving it, bringing back Shepard or someone, and locking in Kendricks with our first pick. Draft Kendricks and we have our mike for several years.
