Denver Game.....

Let’s be real, we got lucky to win 10 games this year. You can talk about missing out on Denver, but what were the chances the 49ers were down like 15 starters when played them. That was a game I thought we’d lose 100% when the schedule came out.

Gotta prepare for a let down game every season. It happens even to elite teams. We had an opportunity to take the next step and we didn't. That's okay for where we are right now. Won't be okay next season though.

Its hard in this league riding wins over weak teams to a playoff berth. We knew the Denver game cost us because thus tesm couldn't manage versus kc or Buffalo...we only beat Oakland through a miracle and no through our starting qb.

I think we lost too many games early season that we should have. The Seattle game was a prime example, despite how grerat Wilson was, that game was there for the taking but Fitz threw three INTS and was lucky not to throw double that and Iggy was on their best WR. The seattle D was awful at that stage of the season and we failed to capitlise on it. The Bills home loss and not being prepared for the NE game are other I would like to have back. Denver was bad but it wasn't in isolation.

Yeah what starters were out for the 49ers? None on their offense. Jimmy the Wop was playing injured, but he started. Kittle and Mostert played, all OL played. Their DL was injured.

49ers offense was almost full strength.
Yeah, that was the game they were “finally” going to be at full strength

I mean their defense was what got them to the SB...also, Kittle was playing injured and they had WR get banged up.

I may be justifying it, but I feel like Denver and Las Vegas were a wash. OK, losing to Denver was a real pisser. But, we had no business beating the Raiders. They outplayed us, and we pulled that game out of our A$$ on a fluke play. In truth, that's what it was. It wasn't some great skill or brilliant call- the Raiders blew coverage, the ball landed right where it needed to because Fitz got facemasked. Even Fitz admitted had he not been grabbed by the head he would have overthrown it. We keep adulating Fitz for making a brilliant throw- and it was thrilling, and kudos to Hollins for the catch and flop out of bounds- but there was a bit of luck and good fortune there, cuz that throw was kissed by the gods. Total fluke. Really, I think we were a 9-7 team that came out a game ahead.
You can blast and disagree with me all you want. It was still a good season until today.
And honestly- Buffalo at home, they are just rolling. I have been telling anyone who will listen I think they thump KC in the playoffs. Buffalo can score and their defense is way better than KC's. I expect Buffalo to be in the Super Bowl.
Today's game really changed on that punt return. It took it from, "get a score, it's still a one possession game" to, "Damn. Floodgates are open." And things snowballed. That just happens sometimes. Buffalo just has the magic working. Sometimes, a team just has it all going their way, and that is Buffalo right now. Don't be surprised if they're hoisting the Lombardi. I won't be.

That play kind of reminded me of the Miami Miracle which was the last good thing that happened that year. I was excited but I couldn't forget how worthless the Miami Miracle was in the long run. To be honest though, we had outplayed the Pats that game, but a holding call and then Kenny Stills sliding a yard before the first down like a QB ended one of our last drives when we were rolling. It really should have never been in doubt.
