Yes he is a bit undersized but everytime I see this guy on the field he plays with intensity. And he seems to have talent. I dont know why he isnt in the mix in terms of our 3rd linebacker in addition to Zach and Channing. I like the guy, I think we should give him a shot. Opinions.

I agree he has been productive when he has had his opportunities. I believe this will be his third year and the prievious two he has been behiend Zach on the depth chart. Maybe its his coverage that is holding him back. Not quite sure but I do know if he can out play Spragan, Hodge and Newsom during camp Saban will put the best group of players on the field.

He's not a natural OLB, which is what we need. His primary job is backup to Zach and he does well with that. That is why he was drafted by Wanny. He may not be the best fit with this D, but he's still a valuable role player and backup...

We're Playoff Bound.Maybe Superbowl..

He was playing middle Lb under Wanny..
The guy can light someone up, true, but he is too light to be a middle
LB in Saban's system.
My guess is that he is having problems with the outside LB transition..
Or maybe he doesn't have the speed to play outside.
Playing outside lb is very different than in the middle.
I completely trust Saban's evaluation of him,so I wouldn't worry..
You are right though, the guy will hit you so hard he will knock your
tatoo off.

I've always wondered why this guy doesn't get much playing time......

He isnt the best fit for this system, and I;m kinda suprised he is still around tbh. He is not a 'Saban LB' par se.

But he is a baller. He was adequate when he covered for Zach a couple of years ago. He blew a lot of coverages.

With out lack of depth at LB, he is a valuable player on the roster... but once Saban gets his type of 'backers in, I can't see a long Dolphin future for Pope.

Nope.

Channing Crowder is going to play MLB when Zach is gone.
Where did you get this idea?

I wonder why people say this guy is undersized...he is bigger than Zach. This dude is a str8 head hunter and he's smart.....sound slike Zach to me....maybe thats why they call him "The Future" as a nick on the team. Pope will make his mark before long.

Question to the board?? When JT stands up and we are more clearly in the 3-4, would we be better with Crowder on the outside opposite JT and Pope lined up inside next to Zach or Crowder inside and use the winner of the Newman/Hodge/Spragen battle on the outside?

Also, was the effort to get Watson for Moore an effort to replace Pope as the back-up inside?
