Derrick Shelby concerned that Dion Jordan isn't responding to texts

IMO this is natural behavior for someone with drug issues. They are ashamed and afraid of being further judged so they cut off communication from friends/family. Hope Dion has someone he can talk to and confide in. Someone needs to show him that there IS life outside of drugs, and help him along. It's a damn travesty what's happened to him.

Let him hit bottom...only way he will pull his head out of his ass...unfortunately, a guy with the money he has already received will take a long time to hit bottom...probably not until he is gone from the league a couple of years...

Dion Jordan appears to be distancing himself from the Dolphins.

Suspended DE Dion Jordan appears to be distancing himself from the Dolphins.

"It’s a [bad] situation," teammate DE Derrick Shelby said. "I’ve texted him a few times but got no response." While teammates have reached out to Jordan, he's closed them off. The same goes for the team regarding Jordan, however, as Miami's higher-ups have declined to say whether Jordan will be welcomed back once his suspension is up. He needs to concentrate on avoiding trouble.

It is really too bad he is in this situation. Hope he can get his life back together. I have unfortunately seen 2 of my childhood friends go through this. It is a difficult situation. There are multiple reasons this happens to people. Hope he can get it figured out. My prayers go out to him and his family.

As much as I hate to say this.... Because I was hoping for so much better...... But it's time to cut the chord on this one.

what a loser. I'd feel like I'd have to return some of the money they gave me. how can you live with yourself like you accomplished something in life?

"Thread: Dion Jordan appears to be distancing himself from REALITY."

I fixed the thread title......

Unfortunately, I've known way too many addicts in my life, and from an objective standpoint I probably am myself a functioning alcoholic... Story for another day, but my point is that this is typical behavior of somebody that is on a bender, depressed, and is withdrawing from the outside world to just self medicate. It's a dangerous situation for him personally as obviously it's possible to overdose and die, or drive under the influence and kill someone.
Hopefully he gets into the right program and gets the help that he needs before it's too late. Addiction is a truly monster of a disease, and it's really the black plague of our generation.

What a disaster of a pick by everyone on the team, not Ireland. I hope he gets things sorted out but, not in Miami,
