WR Ted Ginn

Two stories that have made the rounds of NFL websites the past few days are Brandon Marshall’s ongoing feud with Denver and the lack of interest by other teams in Cleveland wideout Braylon Edwards.

Had either story surfaced a few months ago, they’d have been fresh fodder for Dolfans who love speculating what players with such a perceived upside might accomplish in Miami. This time around, they produced next to no interest.

And that’s a good sign for the Dolphin receiving corps.

While Miami still doesn’t have a potential gamebreaker with a Randy Moss/Terrell Owens-type pedigree, there was a sense coming out of this spring’s workouts that there’s a lot of promise in the group that will begin sorting itself out when training camp begins Aug. 1.

That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of question marks, starting with experience. The top three of Ted Ginn Jr., Greg Camarillo and Davone Bess are all still coming into their own; Patrick Turner and Brian Hartline are the rawest of rookies, and Brandon London and Anthony Armstrong remain projects at best. (For purposes of this article, we’re lining up Ernest Wilford at tight end for now.) The Dolphins didn’t have a No. 1 receiver at the end of last season and they still don’t have one now.

I believe Camarillo can be our number 1 if he can make it the whole season. He was on track for a really nice season until he got hurt. He may not be a scary number 1, but I believe he can be OUR number 1

I like the idea of having a bunch of nobodies that work together rather than having a super-star who is concerned only with himself.

True. I love how the FO managed to fill this WHOLE team with non-selfish people who's best interest is getting the team wins, not getting themselves stats.

Having a "#1" receiver doesn't automatically make your team better. It depends on the individual player's role on the team. Some offenses just don't need a"#1" receiver.

I know this sounds a bit weak, but if one of our WRs goes down for a short time with an injury it won't hurt us as bad as if the Pats lose Randy or the Bills, T.O. We have really good depth even if we don't have a number 1. If Armstrong makes the team we will have two burners, two who are quick and can play the slot (Bess and Armstrong) and two with redzone ability (Turner and Hartline), and three possession WR in Turner and Cam.

I think it is better to have versatile WRs that can attack in a multitude of ways than to have just one number 1. True, it would be nice to have a Randy Moss that can stretch the field and be a redzone threat, but if we can do it cheaper with two players then injuries won't be as big a concern. Also since we will have more players taking more snaps our players should be fresher later in the year.

Another thing to remember, is in the Giants SB run under Parcells they really didn't have a dominate WR either, as a matter of fact the only real true #1 that Parcells ever had was T.O. and that was Jones who got him not Parcells. I don't see BP ever going out and getting a big time WR. Especially not this year. As I see it there will be teams out there watching who we cut so they can pick up our 7th WR. WR is not a weakness any longer. I like who we have NOW without bringing in another.

How do you know selfish any of these players are. None has attained a status for anything to go to thier head. So if we aquired Anquan Boldin he would be considered a selfish player? Im sure he cares about winning just as much as the next guy.

I think its better to have the best talent you can get. Having a top level receiver has never hurt a team. I doubt any team is waiting with bated breath of which receiver we cut any more than any other team. Armstrong and London are no more on the top of teams wish lists than Nate Hughes and Tiquan Underwood.

I think teams would be waiting for a player like cam or bess if we released them. both productive young receiver with good hands. cam and be
both put me in the mind of when we had welker here, the guys just need a chance cause they proved they can be ver productive. I like our wr group, young hungry players. that's where we will get our number 1 from and I think hiss name is greg cam.

Anthony Armstrong, you're right. But, don't be so sure about Brandon London. He had a good reputation coming out of the Giants to where several teams laid waiver claims on him when they cut him, and the Dolphins only got him because the team had top waiver priority in the league at the time. Since then his 2008 tape shows a guy that blocks well on the perimeter, plays special teams really well, and did not get much of a chance to catch any passes. And of course, there's that practice tape that "leaked" out over YouTube, showing him whooping up on every DB the Dolphins had on roster last year in man cover drills.

So yes, I think there could definitely be a team or two keeping an eye on the Dolphins' situation with Brandon London, especially after the Dolphins drafted Turner and Hartline. The thing is, I believe the Dolphins could trade London for a 7th or maybe even a 6th. They're laying a lot of groundwork out there to convince people they could keep 6 receivers. That's a perfect recipe for a low round trade offer.

Neither Camarillo nor Bess will be released.

I agree that either would be waited on but neither is the caliber player we are talking about. we are talking London or Armstrong. London might get picked up but I very much disagree that any team would trade for him. He has three career NFL catches , you can find as good on the open market. if London were anywhere as good as some act he would have done more in his time in the NFl and we would not have drafted 2 rookie receivers so high. Armstrong if cut may not even find a job, he has been around since 2005 and has yet to make an NFL team.

You're totally disregarding the special teams prowess, blocking ability, and youth factors. Fortunately, actual NFL front offices would not make that mistake.
