“I talked to everybody from the head coach, to the GM, to the lady at the front desk, to the defensive coordinator, to the strength coach,” Delmas says. “Basically, they didn’t really ask me questions—they just told me about myself. They told me how much of a high-powered player I am; how explosive I am; how much I love the game. And I do love the game—the power, the physical aspect of it. They think I can bring the guys around me together.”

Based on what Grimes said and now Delmas....Hickey seems to have a way to making players feel "wanted"...

Really interesting to read that Hickey just gave him 2 hours for a final decision. For someone new in the GM role, it's a good sign that Hickey was pretty assertive. It was a window of opportunity before Free Agency and he put the pressure on for a quick decision.
 
I have a feeling Delmas is going to be a must sign player about 340 days from now....

They made him feel wanted. With all the stories about Ireland not making players feel wanted and just putting a price on them(examples such as Ryan Clark and Jake Long), you would think people would be happy that Hickey is making people feel wanted. This is the second time in just over a week where a free agent specifically said that Hickey and everyone else made them feel wanted. Was a theme of Grimes' press conference and now this story from Delmas. It also pours some water on the online rumors that Hickey is an ass behind the scenes.

Not only do players want to be in Miami, they are made feel wanted. That is good news and not something to just be brushed aside.

This IS important and bodes well for not only the rest of FA but the draft FA period also. Delmas's style of play reminds me of Louis Oliver(xcept he can cover) where he wants to hit anything with the other teams colors. I guess i'm optimistic every offseason but this one seems different. We'll see. Thanks Nub.:up:
