Reported from Scout.com:

According to a Palm Beach Post report, the Detroit Lions will agree to trade the rights to quarterback Joey Harrington to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, finally culminating the rather forgettable Joey Harrington-era in Detroit.

The former No. 3 overall pick had already agreed in principle on a two-year contract with Miami that will reportedly pay him $4 million. If the deal is completed, he will back-up former Vikings' starter Daunte Culpepper, who was obtained from Minnesota last month. Both Harrington, 27, and the Dolphins were apparently just waiting on Detroit to agree on compensation.

That trade compensation, which has been rumored to be a seventh rounder this year in addition to a conditional draft choice next April, would be finalized on Thursdsay.

Wow, awesome. So we have a probowler, and a young starter who needs to be groomed. THen we draft another young stud and go from there. We went from crap QB hell to plethora or awesome QB talent and potential.

Wonder whether this was a mistake from Scout.com - b/c the reports I've seen showed that Harrington chose Miami but was awaiting word from Detroit.

Knowing Matt Millen and his completely unorthodox lack of rationality - he will wait to release Harrington in June and get nothing for him. What a worthless GM. If he makes the trade - it might be one of the first reasonable moves he's made!

Saban is dangerous...

He will get what he wants. He's got me more convinced that we will win a Superbowl than Johnson ever did, and he's hasn't even mentioned it yet...

There are two articles in the Palm Beach Post--one saying Detroit will accept a deal (no discussion of what the compensation will be), and one saying what you read everywhere else, Joey wants out but no comment on what Detroit will do. I guess that's called covering your bases!

Not sure where Scout.com got the compensation from.

Saban has me all bunched up in my underwear, feel like I have a wedgy! So excited, Harrington will be great backup to DC, will win games for us till DC is ready, then DC & Saban take us to the SB!

In Saban We Trust!

So, top rb in last years draft backed up by former league leading rusher if RW is back, starting qb elite franchise qb backed by 4 yr starter who was a top draft pick (hard to hold not excelling in Detroit against somebody IMO), DC and OC were head coaches last year. Probowl WR(Chambers), former pro bowl WR(Booker), potential probowl TE (time to step up McMike). Best O-line coach in football. Offense is starting to look OK. Looks like a defensive draft. If Crowder and Daniels are an example, we should get some gems. Plus Poole coming back, FA additions in secondary, the continued education of Manny Wright and Roth, the unknown potential of Vickerson and Shirdonya Mitchell.

Anyone else getting excited! Such a pleasure to have Nick as HC.
