detroit probably out the brees sweepstakes

This might give credence to those on this board who think the Dolphins already have an agreement in principle with Brees. If that's fairly widely known, Detroit is likely moving on. Or they could still be pursuing Brees to replace Harrington and bringing in King as a backup to whomever their number one is.

I'm hopeful but not convinced Brees will be ours.

we all knew this, the media was the only one saying they were in the Brees sweepstakes. Martz has said that he wants to work on Harrington

i want culpepper, not brees. brees really doesnt fit our offense. at all

Yes I would much rather somebody who won't be ready to step on the field until at least mid season ... and even then be questionable with his knee. :shakeno: Brees is already ahead of schedule and will be ready to throw by May. I don't care about a longball that may go 10 yards deeper ... have you heard of a thing called team chemistry? Thats whats important and thats why we need Brees rather than Culpepper so we can have a QB for the entire season.

i don't think shaun king will stop detroit from going after drew brees

Actually, I think our offense is built very similar to what Brees had in San Diego. Basicly we have the same O-Line system(with Houck), we both have a star Wide Reciever. Both teams have that game breaking Tight End. Also, don't forget that we both have power running backs. Brees is a better fit.

The OL? Maybe...
The wide receivers are completely different. Chambers is better overall, but they have completely different styles. Randy McMicheal is not in Gates category and L.T. has much better moves than Ronnie, yet Ronnie has much better power so to say they're that similar would mean nearly 20 other teams are similar as well.

Why does peoples want culpepper? I watched every viking game last seson. Culpepper was aweful before he got hurt. Aweful, aweful and more aweful! Brad Johnson came in and won almost every game in same offense. The team may have jelled alittle better by the time Brad was qbing, but if you watched clpepper at all, he made horrible decisions, had no ability to scan thru his secondary receivers and make a play. I really believe Moss as his primary receiver in the past was about as far as he looked and made him a good qb. Wthout he's about a Shawn King type of player. I believe that after watching him for a few years now.

I don't think that it means anything with them signing King. Heck, it could mean he is there for insurance IF Brees is not ready at the beginning of the season. They would cut Harrington if they did sign Brees and King could be just the insurance they need?

I wouldnt say at all... but Culpepper is definatly a better fit for us...

Nubs, I can't completely agree with you except that the subtle differences we'll see with Mularkey would make the O more adjusted to Brees strengths. But, this offense was built around Culpepper (Linehan), so logically speaking Culpepper should be a better fit...The one area that is in question with Brees is the long ball. This offense works extremely well when it hits on 2 or 3 deep balls each game. That is, in fact the ultimate premise of this offense. It continually sets itself up for a deep ball opportunity. Hitting those opportunities is what makes it most successful. Brees is not a noodle-arm like Ears or Chad (especially since his injuries), but he's not as strong-armed as Culpepper. However, if he can be more accurate than Gus in those 5 or 6 tries to go deep, Brees will be more than adequate for us...

IMO, I'd go after Brees simply for the reason that he's 2 years younger than DC....ability-wise they are pretty equal...
